Why Fintech Users Don’t See What They Already Have

Most coaches don't have a visibility problem. 

They have a clarity problem.

I recently reviewed a leadership coach's profile across both Instagram and LinkedIn. She had a strong background, clear expertise, genuine value, and was the kind of person I'd actually want to work with.

But I still hesitated.

On Instagram, her highlights had no names or titles under them. I had no idea where to start, what each one contained, or which one was meant for me. So I did what most visitors do. I left without reaching out.

LinkedIn was more polished, but I still walked away unsure of exactly who her work is for and what changes after working with her.

After going through both profiles, I still couldn't answer the three questions every potential client is silently asking: 

- What problem do they actually solve? 
- Who is this really for? 
- What does life look like after working with them?

So I moved on, not with frustration just quietly, the way potential clients always do.

That's the part most coaches miss. 
They assume they're losing people at the content level : too few posts, weak hooks, the wrong format.
But the drop-off usually happens earlier, at the clarity level.

When someone has to work to understand what you offer, you've already created friction. And friction, however small, is enough to make someone leave without ever reaching out.

Clear positioning changes that dynamic entirely. 
It makes the right person feel immediately seen, it makes the value obvious without explanation, and it makes the decision to reach out feel easy rather than effortful. 
When that foundation is missing, even genuinely good content struggles to convert, because attention without clarity rarely leads anywhere.

If someone landed on your profile today cold with no prior context would they understand your messaging? 

Sometimes it takes an external eye. 
Even if you're brilliant at communicating your clients' value, you might struggle to see the gaps in your own profile because you're too close to it.

The Fintech Paradox: Why “All-in-One” Keeps Failing

Consumers say they want simplicity.

But their behavior says otherwise.

📊 78% of Americans use fintech apps.
Yet1 in 5 expect to use six or more.

Why?

Because users don’t optimize for convenience.
They optimize for outcomes.

They pick:

• the highest savings APY in one app
• the best credit card rewards in another
• the cheapest brokerage somewhere else

They aren’t looking for an ecosystem.

They’re building a stack of best-in-class tools.

This is where many platforms get expansion wrong.

If your app offers five products that don’t improve each other, you haven’t built an ecosystem.

To the user, it just feels like a folder on their phone:

Savings.
Credit card.
Investing.
Loans.

All sitting next to each other — but not actually working together.

That’s not an ecosystem.
It’s just multiple tools grouped in one place.

Real ecosystems work differently.
Each product should make the others more valuable.

If your second product doesn’t make your first one better, users will keep tab-switching.

Most companies don’t have an ecosystem problem.

Leo was the strongest lion in the jungle🦁.

Until they put him in a cage.

From that day on, he didn't have to hunt. A man brought him fresh meat every single morning. 

No more chasing. 
No more hunger. 
No more risk.

At first, Leo missed the wild. But eventually, he got used to the "security." He even started laughing at videos of other lions: running, sweating, and struggling to catch their prey.

Then, one day, a storm hit. A tree fell and smashed the cage open. Freedom was staring him in the face.

But Leo didn't run.

- His muscles had grown weak.
- His instincts were dull.
- He had become more attached to the 𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹 than his own independence.

We get so comfortable in a full-time role that we forget how to "hunt."

We trade our agility for a steady paycheck. We start to look down on the "hustle" of the entrepreneurs and freelancers outside. We think we're safe because the meat arrives at the same time every month.

But the "cage" of a 9-5 is only as strong as the hand that feeds you.

If the storm comes tomorrow: a layoff, a merger, or an industry shift, political unrest, the door will be wide open.

Most people choose the wrong LinkedIn ad format.

Not because they don’t know the options, but because they don’t know what their message actually needs.

The format isn't there to save your copy; it’s there to amplify it.

Here is how to match your message to the right medium:

1. Image Ads → When the message is simple.
One idea. One outcome. Instant understanding. Use this when your value proposition can be felt in under 2 seconds.

2. Carousel Ads → When the message needs structure.
If your offer has multiple steps or layers, break it down. Let the user swipe through the logic. Structure creates trust.

3. Video Ads → When the message needs to be seen.
Don't just tell them what you do—show them the product, the use case, and the result in real-time. Movement captures attention; proof keeps it.

The Bottom Line:

The biggest mistake isn't picking the wrong format. It’s trying to use a format to fix a message that isn’t clear.

- Image amplifies clarity.
- Carousel structures it.
- Video demonstrates it.

If people don’t understand the "Why" behind your brand, no amount of swiping or high-production video will fix it.

Clarify the message first. Choose the amplifier second.

Your audience doesn't stay for your content. 

This was the title of an article I read by Mark Thomson, and it made me think. 

These days AI can generate volume content at "good enough" quality. It may also provide more data than you.  This means your uniqueness no longer lives in what you know. It lives in the emotional experience you create.

Your competitive advantage lies in how you weave your personal DNA into your work.  That's why Thomson focuses on 3 pillars:

- Stories: Your unique experiences and take on issues. 
- Lessons: What you learned from those experiences. 
- Offer: A clear way for your audience to go deeper with you once you've earned trust. 

The big takeaway?
Consistency isn't about feeding the algorithm but about reinforcing the emotional experience people have when they spend time with your work. 

This made me think: In a world of automated "perfection," are we leaning enough into our own messy, human side? and how are we adding "humanity" to our content?

We often mistake a "lack of noise" for a "lack of performance."

In the high-pressure corporate world, leaders often fall into the Efficiency Trap: trading a quiet, consistent foundation for a loud, flashy performer.

I recently saw a story that captures this perfectly.

An old donkey built a farm’s success over decades. As he aged, he slowed down and rested openly. The farmer, seeing only the "slowness," replaced him with a powerful young bull.

The bull was a superstar, but only when the farmer was watching. Behind the scenes, he was dishonest and lazy. The farmer realized too late: The donkey’s weakness was visible and honest; the bull’s dishonesty was hidden and destructive.

The Corporate Reality

- The "Legacy Pillar" (The Donkey): They flag risks, fix unseen gaps, and are honest about what’s achievable. Because they don't "perform" for the dashboard, they are often misjudged as stagnant.

- The "Strategic Performer" (The Bull): They are masters of managing up and looking incredible in slide decks. They hit short-term KPIs by cutting corners, leaving a trail of cultural debt the moment leadership turns away.

The Lesson for Leadership:

1. Transparency is a Asset: When a veteran team member is honest about their limits, believe them. That honesty is what keeps an organization stable.
2. Beware "Watch-Me" Metrics: High-velocity numbers mean nothing if the character behind them is hollow.
3. Respect the Foundation: You can't build a sustainable business on "actors." You build it on people who tell you the truth when things are cracking.

Once you trade a culture of 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 for 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, you don't just lose a worker, you lose your foundation.

Stop measuring only the speed of the sprint. Start valuing the honesty of the marathon.

I used to call myself a 'B2B writer.' 

Then I realised that writing was the delivery method, not the value.

The value was always clarity.
Every project I worked on was not the words. It was the thinking underneath.

• Why is this product hard to explain?
• What does the buyer actually need to hear?
• What can we cut without losing meaning?

The writing was the output. The clarity was the skill.

That shift changed everything:  how I position myself, who I attract, and what I charge. 
It changed how I think about my work.

If you are in a similar place, feeling like the label you carry does not match the value you deliver, it might be time to rethink the label.

Not to sound more impressive, but to be more accurate.

Clarity doesn't come from overthinking. 

Sometimes we think that if we spend more hours analyzing the same thoughts, the answers will suddenly appear.

Instead, we just end up mentally overloaded. 

And when our CPUs overheat, the best thing to do is to pause.

•  𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗼𝘀": You cannot find a solution while your brain is overactive. Take a step back and enter a state of mental stillness.

 • 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗽": When you’re overwhelmed, don't reach for your phone to "relax." Scrolling only overstimulates your system further.

 • 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 "𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀": Go for a walk in the forest or simply stare at a wall. Your best epiphanies happen when you give your brain the empty space it needs to process.

 • 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Disconnect completely to let the answers flow. 

Clarity is rarely a result of effort; it is a result of space.

If you’re feeling weary right now, stop pushing. Stop trying. Stop thinking. Step into the nothingness and let clarity find you.
