Using Selenium, Cucumber, Java, Eclipse, TestNG, and Maven, I created efficient and fast automated tests of web applications, which also printed out thorough reports upon completion of a test suite, to be viewed in a web browser. I aided other developers when struggles arose on applications they were working with.

We extensively made use of Git to process merge requests and code reviews. Submitted code was usually run on someone else's machine to double check its reliability. This was across multiple work streams from the Bank of New York Mellon, such as Markets, Investment Management Technology, and Asset Servicing Technology.

Later, I scripted tests (with Java and Selenium again) for accessibility issues that most existing automated accessibility tools are not known to catch.

Software Quality Engineer (I, then II)

I ran test cases of assorted software products, including web and mobile apps. Some devices on which the tests were conducted were remote, using the cloud services Perfecto or BrowserStack. I reported various issues in trackers, such as Trello, JIRA, and occasionally GitHub. Slack was the primary medium of communication among coworkers and engagement managers. Clients included major utility, media, and financial institutions.

Project 2 - Wire a microcontroller to an existing PC and download and install software for it, such as drivers. Rate the compatibility, ease of setup, and clarity of instructions provided.

I tested the stability of various Ruddlesden-Popper Perovskite phases (2-layered oxides of this type are already well known) to determine if halide versions could form the same space group patterns known in oxides, or if the halides were even stable enough to be synthesized in the first place. The stoichiometry of the 2-layered phases means it is possible for them to disproportionate into other compounds, even with no other reagents present. This was the case for the halides tested during the program.

Equipment used: Glove box, hydrogen/oxygen torch, quartz tubes, glassware, X-ray diffraction slides and instruments, glass vials, ceramic crucibles and tubes, programmable furnaces, mortars and pestles, analytical balances. Graduate supervisor: Andrew Sharits. Advisor: Patrick Woodward.

I synthesized cathodes through stirring conductive carbon, solutions of PVDF and coated carbon. Solvent used was N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. Coatings included tin dioxide, vanadium(V) oxide, nickel(II) hydroxide, and antimony(III) oxide. I poured slurries onto aluminum foil, dried, and cut into thin disks to create finished cathodes for button cell batteries. We cut sodium metal disks to use for the anodes. 

Electrolytes included sodium perchlorate and tetraethylammonium tetrafluoroborate, in propylene carbonate or a solution of that compound and ethylene carbonate. The electrodes were separated by glass fiber disks. I placed a spacer and spring atop the sodium anode, added caps, and sealed by crimping them under 1000 pounds of force for 45 seconds.
