CASA Youth Advocates, Inc.

- Assisted with the initial intake phase of new cases - including identifying what records are needed to gain a full understanding of the child's current functioning and needs; read all records received to gain an understanding of the child's history, current level of functioning and current needs. Attended court hearings when possible and appropriate.
- Created a first draft of the CASA report - a comprehensive document of the child's history in all domains of child development - utilizing an existing template and samples. This included seeking, accepting, and implementing feedback from the staff person assigned to the case.
- Developed a short interactive questionnaire, referencing available research on volunteer management, to be utilized during a 1-month check-in with volunteers recently assigned to cases. Implemented questionnaire with a group of volunteers and utilized implementation data to revise questionnaire as needed.
- Utilized existing resource directory to create subject-specific digital resource packets, to be emailed to volunteers upon assignment to a new case, based on the known issues with the case. Resource page subjects included: substance use disorders, older youth advocacy, housing options, and education advocacy.

Created fun twist on-and-off pencil toppers to help students manage overwhelming stimulus and anxiety, and fine-tune their focus by providing a wide variety of tactile feedback and comfort. Originally started as a project for a school fundraiser, many of the original designs were inspired and named after the students and teachers who first discovered their shine.
