I’ve learned there’s a difference between loneliness and feeling alone.

I felt completely alone when contemplating my future in Dubai.

I had friends, so I wasn't lonely.

It was the fact that this decision was on me (stay or walk away from my business and livelihood to start again from scratch), and I didn't know what decision to make, that made me feel alone.

People offered their advice; what they would do if they were in my shoes.

Over time, I noticed a reaction.

When someone said, "If it were me, I would stay," my heart sank.
 
When they said they'd go home, I felt a tiny spark of hope.

Fear would then, of course, kick in as all the "What ifs?" quickly followed.

But that spark told me something important: deep down, we know what's right for us. Everything we've been taught to fear is what stops us from hearing it.

So I came home. I felt deeply alone again, with over 30 business and life decisions suddenly on my plate, that only I could make.

But now I know feeling alone isn't necessarily loneliness; the need for human connection.

It's a signal to believe in ourselves. Not just in what we can achieve, but in what we can face and overcome.

A sign to let go of control, those high expectations and need for perfection; from ourselves and others. 

Feeling alone isn't a sign that something is wrong. 

It's a sign that a part of you is calling for you to grow.
