Liked it enough to send a connection request.
Which means you paused the scroll, clicked my name, opened my profile, and hit Connect.

Respect. That is effort. And thank you!

But then… the post gets no like, no comment, no reaction from you.
Not even the low-commitment thumbs up that takes one tap and costs you exactly 0 calories.

Do you know how much it hurts?
I don’t think you do…

Sick of reading stuff like this 🤦‍♂️
“You don’t need to go viral to get clients.”
“Stop chasing vanity metrics.”
"Likes & followers don't pay your bills"

People keep saying it because it sounds wise & counterintuitive.
Even though your intuition tells you these metrics do matter.
You’ve seen what reach & virality do for people.
But you also know how rare & hard it is to go viral. 

So when someone says you don’t need them, you listen.
You lean in. You want to believe there’s another way.
 
But these takes usually come from people who never went viral.
So they preach the same:
You don’t need reach.
You don’t need followers.
You don’t need to go viral.

And if they do land a client or two without these things.
They want to encourage you & show you a way around it as well.
Because going viral is HARD!
 
And before you assume I'm pro-virality because I sell it as a service. I don't.
I also don't have a framework to show you how to go viral. 
I’ve gone viral maybe 5 times in 2 years. By “viral,” I mean 1,000+ reactions, 200+ comments. And I can't tell you how to replicate it.
 
But I can tell you without a shred of doubt:
Those 5 posts did more for me & my business than the other 300 combined.
 
Because those posts gave me the only thing most people on LinkedIn are starving for: REACH
 
Anyone who’s spent time here knows exactly how this works:
You comment on a post today → tomorrow you see that creator again.
Even now, with all the mystery and recent changes to the algorithm. 
 
So when one post pulls 100K+ impressions,
the next one; even if it’s hyper-niche, technical, targeted at one ICP, about my offer, about a case study... gets seen by 100x more people.
Because it rides the wave of the viral post, the increased reach...
 
And because that next post was specific, it probably won’t go viral on its own. It doesn’t have that potential. But now it gets seen. Now it converts.
 
And that’s where people most get confused.
They see that second post bring in leads.
And they think so this kinda post "works"
So they tell everyone to stop chasing reach and just “speak to your ICP.”
 
But that second post only worked because the first one made it visible.
 
Try posting niche, offer-specific, problem-solution content every single time with no reach engine underneath. No one will notice you.
 
And if you still think impressions don’t matter, I dare you to run a paid campaign.
Try buying 300K views and 200 comments.
Let LinkedIn assign a dollar value to the organic reach you just dismissed.
You’ll realize just how expensive that reach is.
 
So don’t tell me virality is a distraction. Don’t tell me it’s unnecessary.
It’s the most EXPENSIVE attention you’ll ever get, for FREE. 👊

Back in 2022, I told myself I’d start writing on LinkedIn. Published 3 posts the entire year. All of them were job ads.
 
In 2023, I promised myself: “This time, I’ll stick to it.” Published 6 posts that year. 5 of them were, again, for hiring.
 
Irked by my failures, I finally made “writing on LinkedIn” part of my New Year’s resolution in 2024. And this happened:
 
Jan: 5
Feb to Apr: 0
May: 7
Jun: 11
Jul: 4
Aug: 2
Sep: 10
Oct, Nov, Dec: 12+/month
 
I ended up publishing 76 posts in 2024. And felt like this New Year’s resolution thing works for me.
 
So in 2025, I upgraded the resolution to publishing 1 post every day.
Here are my 2025 post numbers:
 
Jan: 12
Feb: 20
Mar: 18
Apr: 2
May: 2
Jun: 35
Jul: 24
Aug: 15
Sep: 3
Oct: 3
Nov: 9
Dec: 13
 
I’m ending this year with 157 posts (including this one). A significant improvement again, but I still couldn’t post every day.
 
After a lot of thinking & analysis, here’s what I think keeps happening:
Writing demands a very specific mental state for me. When I feel clear and confident, I post a lot. When I feel noisy, restless, or emotionally flat, writing becomes friction-heavy. Instead of publishing something good enough, I disappear.
So my content frequency is heavily mood-dependent & not reliable at all.

So in 2026, I’m promoting writing on LinkedIn to my top New Year's Resolution. To create a better & more reaslitic system. More Fahad-proof.
Here’s the plan:
 
1) I’m changing the way I look at the goal
 
This time I have an input goal: write 1 post a day or 7 posts a week. 
Instead of publish 1 post everyday.
On days I can’t write a post, I'll read some posts and write comments instead. And save ideas for future posts.
 
2) I’ll block time on my calendar and use deletion as friction
 
I will block a time slot for LinkedIn every day because time blocking works.
But also because when I don't want to do it, I’ll have to open my calendar and delete the time block. I think that moment of friction will help me.
 
3) I’ll build a backlog so my mood isn’t the bottleneck
 
When I feel clear, I won’t waste it.
I’ll use those days to build inventory. So when I feel emotionally flat, I’m not starting from zero. I’m picking from a shelf of hooks, rough drafts, ideas etc.
 
4) I’ll keep accountability, but in a way that fits my life
 
In 2024, the biggest thing that helped was building the CXO accountability group (100+ people). So in 2026, I’m going to revive some version of that. Because I need a reason to show up on the weeks where my brain wants to hide.
 
5) I’ll plan the restart instead of pretending I won’t slip
 
I know my consistency will break at some point. I'm ready for it. The goal is a frictionless restart: 5 minutes of writing, without any pressure to post.
 
All I'm saying is don't forget to Self-Proof your resolutions. You might be the one standing in your own way.

LinkedIn in 2026 will feel like 2025, just a bit more annoying.
 
It's the same playbook every social platform eventually runs:
squeeze the free stuff, upsell paid licenses, push ads, ship features no one asked for, and somehow never fix the things people actually complain about.
 
Two things I’ll give LinkedIn credit for heading into 2026.
 
1) The feed is becoming more interest-based than connection-based
Less “who you follow”, more “what you seem to care about.”
Great for discovery. Your follower count matters less than it used to.
 
2) Posts can live longer now
The feed takes longer to decide where your post belongs.
Once it decides, it can keep resurfacing it for days, sometimes longer.
 
Now the annoying parts. My cynical predictions for LinkedIn in 2026:
 
1) Organic reach keeps getting weaker, but the drop stops feeling dramatic
Not the obvious cliff you felt in 2024 or 2025.
More like “just enough inconsistency” that you start doubting yourself.
You tweak the hook. Then the format. Then the timing.
Eventually you start thinking, fine, I’ll boost like a reasonable adult.
 
2) Premium gets shoved into more workflows
Basic actions start hitting limits: search, visibility, filters, who you can see, how far you can go. And Premium becomes the default “solution” the moment you try to do anything properly. 
 
3) Video gets pushed again
Because someone inside LinkedIn is still obsessed with making video happen. Even though most videos get watched on mute, if at all.
So expect more prompts to upload, more video surfaces, more autoplay placements anyway.

4) Comments become a bigger growth lever than posting for newbies
LinkedIn keeps nudging people toward this.
Commenting is lower effort, easier to be consistent with, and it gets you seen.
Posts still matter more long-term because they build trust and authority, but comments will be the entry ramp for newbies.
 
5) LinkedIn keeps stuffing AI into everything
Sales Navigator, Recruiter, Jobs, messaging, ads, search, the feed.
Some of it will be genuinely useful.
Most of it will make outreach and job applications lazier and worse.
 
6) B2B creators grow faster, and sponsorships become more normal
Brands want distribution. Creators want money. The matchmaking is obvious.
And as reach gets pricier, paying a creator will often make more sense than paying the algorithm.
 
None of this is a reason to quit though.
LinkedIn is still the best B2B attention pool until there’s a real rival. (someone, please!)
 
And despite all these changes & problems, my plan for LinkedIn is simpler than ever before:
Be uncomfortably specific & weirdly human.  
Build relationships in the comments. 
And don't treat follower count like a safety net.

Got this DM recently:

“Hi Fahad, thanks for connecting!
I help businesses get more high-quality leads without spending heavily on ads. What’s been your most effective lead generation method so far?”

And I get a ton of these DMs right after I accept the connection request.

But instead of ignoring them, I now respond by adding a small prefix:

So if you DM me: “I help businesses get more high-quality leads…”

I reply: “I help people who [help businesses get more high-quality leads…]”

I reverse-pitch using their own words.
It gives me a cheap satisfaction.

Sometimes they laugh.
Most of the time they don't respond.
And none of them have converted to a paying client.
But I consider all these outcomes as wins.

Mondays used to fill me with dread.

Till I started my own business.

Now every day feels like Monday.

Marketers keep inventing new titles for themselves.
 
Have you noticed?

We just love coming up with names.
I'll start with my own labeles to be fair. I’ve called myself a:
• brand marketer 
• content marketer.
• SEO marketer
• performance marketer
• growth marketer

And probably a few more that I can't think of right now.
And none of them were lies.
They were just names & reframes.
 
Because at the core, it’s still the same job:
Talk to the customer. Understand their problems and needs. Offer solutions in a way they understand and feel.
 
And because that sounds too simple, we keep renaming it so it feels more complicated than it is. More sophisticated.
 
So now we call ourselves:
• demand marketers
• lifecycle marketers
• conversion marketers
• product marketers / PMMs
• field marketers
• community marketers
• partner / ecosystem marketers
• GTM marketers (this one is on Clay)
• revenue marketers
• T-shaped marketers
• full-stack marketers
• V-shaped marketers (don’t ask)
 
Some of these are real differences in scope.
Some of these better explain the exact job to others.
But a lot of the time, it’s just marketing… for our colleagues, for our clients, for our employers.
And sometimes just for other marketers.
 
In my case, I’m now calling myself a B2B LinkedIn Marketer.
Hopefully it tells you exactly what I do.
If it doesn’t, I’ll probably change it again.
