At ASML, a leader in the semiconductor industry, I contributed to developing a platform designed to provide insights into machine operations. This platform played a crucial role in monitoring for errors, facilitating timely fixes, and employing artificial intelligence to anticipate potential failures.

Due to the proprietary and sensitive nature of the technology and processes at ASML, much of the detailed information about my role and the project specifics is classified. This experience has honed my skills in handling confidential data and working within strict operational security guidelines, reinforcing the importance of discretion and integrity in high-stakes environments.

At Alphabet Lease (part of BMW Group), a leasing company, my role involved developing modular components for a complex system and leading several frontend projects. As a Chapter Lead I spearheaded technical innovation within our eco-system. This included conducting Angular upgrades and enhancing the codebase for better performance. The frontend team, comprising 10 members, was responsible for overseeing and managing 20 separate Angular projects, each an individual application.

I also contributed to the refactoring of a key application, transitioning it to a monorepo structure with Nx to improve maintainability and scalability.

At Lyfo, a provider of advanced mobile coverage solutions critical for ensuring reliable communication, I developed an Angular application made for configuring the backend for their clients, including the Dutch police. The code that was written is quality tested by an external party and was found to be excellent.

Increasing mobility of citizens between EU countries results in a growing number of people seeking healthcare outside their own region or country. To facilitate the exchange of patient data among countries, the European Union collaborates with member states on an international infrastructure known as eHealth Digital Services & Infrastructure (eHDSI). The Netherlands is integrating into this system of national contact points with its own national contact point called the National Contact Point for eHealth (NCPeH). Through the NCPeH, healthcare professionals can digitally retrieve patient summaries from patients in EU countries requiring unplanned care in the Netherlands.

Working while being a student

During my studies, to gain practical experience, I wanted to work. I faced the challenge that no company was willing to hire me part-time. Driven by resilience and determination, I didn't let this stop me. Instead, I chose to start my own freelancing 'company' as a way to gain that experience. I've worked on a variety of projects, ranging from small websites for local artists to large-scale applications like a planning system for a major transportation company. This experience has given me a versatile skill set, making me broadly deployable in various IT roles.

The tech stack I've used includes: WordPress, PHP, Laravel, JavaScript, AngularJS, Angular, React, HTML/CSS, and React Native.

As a former developer, I redefine the kind of developer you think you’re looking for and see beyond the resume to ensure you hire the real deal.

I've been working in the HR tech space for 7 years. I like to write about sales, career, and life in between.

I'm currently an Account Executive at Ashby, where I work with startups in EMEA who need a powerful all-in-one ATS to support their hiring needs in a competitive talent market.

January is flying by! 🛸

The leads are streaming in, the conversations are flowing, the deals are closing. The momentum is there and Q1 is in full swing.

I'm feeling a little sentimental today though. We begin our road trip back to the Netherlands tomorrow after spending five weeks in the South of France.

Every time I'm working down here, I have to pause for a second and remind myself just how special it is to have a remote job in tech sales.

This career path is literally the biggest life hack. 

It isn't just the earning potential, the accelerated personal growth, the endless opportunities, and the ability to work from anywhere...

It's also the wide set of skills that tech sales teaches you - skills that make you better across all areas of life. You learn how to read people, how to negotiate, ask the right questions, ask for what you want, manage your time, manage your emotions, control your mindset... 

And the best things is: you don't need anything to get started. No university degrees, no certifications, no prior experience, no industry knowledge.

The opportunity is there.

It's up for grabs for anyone who wants it 🌏

Recruiting software even your CTO will want to use.

Typically, when a company is hiring a new leader, they delay buying SaaS products until that leader is in place.

🔄 With Ashby, the opposite is often true.

Momentum is not a reason to rush.

In high-velocity sales cycles, things move fast and momentum builds quickly. This means lots of meetings and lots of deals. It's fun - but it's easy to make sloppy mistakes.

One such mistake is using momentum as an excuse to rush through critical parts of the sales cycle. 

The way I see it: momentum is driven by clarity and alignment, while rushing is driven by pressure and reactivity.

In sales, rushing looks like jumping to conclusions, skipping discovery, making assumptions, and not asking the important questions.

This year, I'm challenging myself to slow down during moments of high momentum.

This does not mean acting without urgency or overcomplicating things. 

It means sharpening my focus, staying present with my buyer, and making sure I don't skip over important details that could derail the deal later on.

Sales aside, slowing down is a practice I'm trying to apply to all areas of my life. Because progress and haste are not the same thing.
