Ramsey Solutions

Lead four cross-functional squads, growing a double-sided marketplace connecting customers with professional service providers, such as real estate agents and tax professionals. 

Responsibilities include creating a mobile strategy (to deliver a product experience that connects customers to professionals and facilitates effective conversations, improving the rate of connection between customer and pro, and increasing engagement), refining the internal tools used by sales and coaching teams (to improve acquisition and retention and optimize internal operations so each team member was more efficient.)

Lead a team of up to eight software engineers (hybrid team with two remote) building a mobile-only fintech app (DDA account with debit card). Applied product principles from SVPG (Silicon Valley Product Group) to create a world class digital product team. Built native Swift iOS and Kotlin Android apps simultaneously, delivering features in parallel, striving to ensure conceptual integrity across codebases. Helped architect a serverless AWS Lambda platform layer, written in Kotlin, which is conceptually simple, easy to reason about, and secure. Honed my skills in growing psychologically safe and empowered teams, employing SVPG product principles to iterate and deliver rapidly to learn from real customers in the market. Became influential in shaping digital product development across Ramsey Solutions, training and coaching on how engineers can effectively partner with business and product disciplines to grow and ship sustainable software.

Director of Engineering for Mobile Banking App

Lead the design and development of the EveryDollar iOS and Android mobile apps. Helped grow the business to millions in annual recurring subscription revenue. Shaped the company’s mobile strategy including a pivot to mobile-first. Lead the effort to migrate iOS from Objective-C to Swift, starting with Swift 2.0, and a pivot to a subscription business model. Heavily influenced the app user experience, development processes, testing strategy, continuous deployment strategy, and process improvements including adopting and refining kanban. Cut my teeth on technology leadership, hiring, mentoring, and retaining engineering talent.

Associate Director of Engineering for Mobile Budgeting App EveryDollar

I helped launch EveryDollar to become Ramsey Solutions’ first subscription based product and business. I introduced React as the front end technology for web. I then pivoted to mobile and I was responsible for architecting and developing the native iOS and Android applications.

Responsible for architecting, designing, implementing, deploying, and maintaining custom web-apps and web-software.

Additional responsibilities included creating native iOS mobile apps. Most of these apps have been designed to tightly integrate with the client's web services, enhancing the user's experience and bringing more value from the client's web presence.

Notable achievements include implementing a complete social-network & web-app infrastructure in Yii + accompanying iOS app.

Responsible for creating and maintaining object-oriented php + javascript applications, making heavy use of a PHP5 MVC framework, jQuery, and ajax. Notable accomplishments include building a single unified PHP5 api facade/wrapper for Google AdWords, Microsoft AdCenter, and Yahoo EWS paid ad networks; growing a biweekly email campaign & social internet infrastructure to organically increase traffic and conversions; and using PHP/MooTools + APE to create an interactive game-layer across ecommerce platforms.
