7 Attitudes That Set You Apart in Business

Long to-do lists are a trap.
Attention, not time, is your real constraint.

To-do lists don’t show progress.

They only show volume.

When a 2-minute admin task sits next to a 2-hour 
strategic move, your brain picks the easiest win. 

Here's usually what happens...

You stay busy all day. You tick things off.

You end the day feeling drained.

But the business is still in the same place it was 
this morning.

That’s why I use the 1–3–5 Rule.

It’s a simple way to decide what actually deserves your 
energy before the day runs away from you.

1 Big Task
↳ Block your first 90–120 minutes for this.
↳ This is the work that increases revenue or fixes a 
major constraint.

3 Medium Tasks 
↳ Tasks that keep projects moving or remove friction 
for others. 
↳ Important, but they shouldn’t dominate your 
peak energy.

5 Small Tasks 
↳ Quick replies, approvals, and open loops. 
↳ Clear these last so they stop sitting in your head 
all day.

The point isn’t to do more.

It’s to stop letting the day decide for you.

To make sure the important things actually move 
before lunch.

This way, the owner stops working late but still makes 
real progress.

When attention has structure, it's easier to protect 
your focus.

And progress stops feeling so hard.

Ditch the 20-item To-Do list (1)

If we wait to be happy, we'll miss out on the very life we’re trying to build.

We keep telling ourselves it’ll come later.

After the next goal.

After things settle down a bit.

But the work doesn’t really slow on its own.

There’s always another decision to make.

Another problem to think through.

Another reason to stay switched on.

That’s why happiness can’t be something you postpone.

It has to live alongside the work.

Sometimes it’s the simple things.

🟡 A proper walk outside, without your phone.
🟡 Dinner with people you care about.
🟡 Closing the laptop a little earlier than usual.

Happiness isn't a destination. 

It’s the gear you choose to drive in.

It’s something you choose while things are still in progress.

Not everything feels good while you’re building.

But happiness isn’t something you earn after the hard season.

It’s not reserved for when things slow down or finally feel “sorted”.

You don’t need to force positivity.

And you don’t need to pretend things are easy.

Just don’t put your life on hold waiting for a future version of success.

The work will still be there.

The goals aren’t going anywhere.

Happiness isn’t something you unlock later.

It’s something you choose in small ways, every day.

You shouldn’t be spending hours writing SOPs in 2026.


Yet a lot of business owners still are.

And I know it's not intentional.

As a business owner myself, I know how this goes.

The good news is, it doesn’t need to be complicated.

A powerful SOP should be simple:

✅ Clear enough for anyone to follow
✅ Quick to implement
✅ Actually gets used

You can create clear, useful SOPs in under 
15 minutes, using two free tools. 

1. Loom, and...
2. ChatGPT.

Here’s the exact 5-step process I show my clients to 
use.

1. Identify key tasks
→ Look for the repeatable things your team always
needs help with

2. Record a Loom while you work
→ Just press record and do the task live.

3. Structure it with ChatGPT
→ Use a structured prompt based on the R.C.I 
framework to turn the transcript into a comprehensive 
SOP.

4. Refine the SOP
→ Let ChatGPT identify overlooked gaps and refine
the SOP to prevent team confusion.

5. Test it with someone new
→ If they can follow it, anyone on your team can.

If you’re always too busy to document, you’ll always 
be too busy to delegate.

And if everything depends on you, you’re not going 
to scale.

Having SOPs in place is the simplest step to take.

It helps your team work independently with more clarity.

With this guide, it becomes much easier for you.

Imagine fewer meetings explaining the same thing

How to Create SOPs with ChatGPT

This one thing matters more in business
than skill or strategy.


It’s how you treat people.

It’s one of the simplest truths I’ve learnt on this journey.

No matter the title or success of the other person.

Good business people respect people.

Simple.

1️⃣ You can’t shortcut your way to great partnerships.
2️⃣ You can’t strong-arm your way to loyal teams.
3️⃣ You can’t buy your way to long-term trust.

It starts with how you carry yourself.

How you treat those who owe you nothing.

Every person has a story you haven’t heard.

Some challenge they're carrying that you’ll never see.

I am one of those people. So are you.

Respect costs you nothing.

But it changes everything.

🟡 It creates loyalty in teams.
🟡 It creates trust in partnerships.
🟡 It creates a culture people want to be part of.

So, I encourage you to be kind.

Respect doesn't require credentials.

This one philosophy rewired my business brain.
Every owner should live by it.

I've read many books. And quite a few have stood out for me.

But this particular one completely changed the way I see business today.

Marie Forleo's Everything is Figureoutable.

If you haven’t read the book, I highly recommend you do.

It is simple but powerful:

✅ Every problem can be solved.
✅ Every system can be built.
✅ Every skill can be learned.

You just have to believe it’s possible and take
responsibility for figuring it out.

That hit me hard.

As business owners, we think:

“My business is too complex.”
“I don't have time to grow.”
“No one can run the business like me.”

I’ve heard those lines too often.

I’ve said them myself.

But complexity is just a system you haven’t built yet.

The difference between a founder who stays stuck 
and one who scales isn’t strategy.

It’s mindset.

The ones who grow don’t wait for the perfect system.

They build one.

🟡 They test, break, and rebuild.
🟡 They get their team involved.
🟡 They figure it out together.

That’s what Marie’s philosophy is really about.

Progress through action, not perfection.

You don’t need it all figured out before you start.

You just need to start.

Because when you run your business with the mindset 
that everything is figureoutable...

You stop panicking every time something goes wrong.

You start problem-solving instead of avoiding it.

You stop expecting perfection from your team.

We 5x’d revenue from September to December.
And 10x’d profit in December, working the least hours I 
have ever worked.

Last year ended well for me.

But it didn’t come without a few lessons.

And without a shadow of a doubt, the biggest one was:

Strategy + consistency + persistence = success.

It sounds simple. But it's true.

When you have a good strategy, and you stay persistent 
and consistent with it, success follows.

And it doesn't happen overnight.

For us, it was really the last 4 months of the year when 
we started seeing massive success.

We didn't do anything different.

We surely didn't put in more hours.

It’s just that I stuck to the game plan, and it came to 
fruition.

September was the first real signal.

Revenue jumped. Properly.

Profit followed in December.

And what surprised me most, December was also the 
month I worked the least.

🟡 I travelled with my wife.
🟡 I took proper time off.
🟡 I wasn’t glued to my laptop every day.

Yet, the business still moved forward.

That’s when you know you’re building something solid.

We’re now in a position to expand the team.

We brought on a new team member.

And we’re planning to grow further this year.

But I don't want to stop there.

One of my biggest goals this year is to help 
100 service businesses.

I want to help them build something that brings them 
true peace.

Because I know what it’s like when things feel uncertain.

When revenue is unpredictable.

When you lie awake at night because too much depends 
on you.

That pressure doesn’t disappear by working harder.

It changes when you combine strategy with consistency.

That’s what last year taught me.

And that lesson is coming with me into this year.

There’s a difference between running a business and

5. Delivery
↳ Inconsistent delivery increases effort, not results.

7. Customer experience
↳ Silence isn’t always satisfaction.
↳ Ask: do you get feedback before issues turn into churn?

Get these right, and scaling becomes simpler and calmer.

The biggest lie in business is hiding inside your P&L.


A P&L tells you what you invoiced. 

It doesn't tell you what you collected.

You can have a "profitable" month and still not have

The reality of scaling is that money is never consistent.

↳ No agenda sent 24 hours in advance? Reschedule it.

Step 2
↳ If the meeting is just updates or info sharing, 
replace it with a short Loom.
↳ Protect your energy for deep, focused work.

Step 3
↳ Only keep meetings where decisions are made or 
data is reviewed.
↳ Push low-risk decisions back to the team.

Step 4
↳ No scorecard or KPI being reviewed?
↳ Postpone the meeting until the numbers are ready.

This does not mean you're unavailable.

It means you’re intentional.

✅ Your team still has access to you.

My client was working 60-hour weeks.
