I managed the retail system integration of gopuff into Bevmo which accounted for a substantial portion of gopuff's revenue. 

Additionally Gopuff's legacy system needed an infrastructure upgrade to meet our scaling needs. 
I built a team to take gopuff international and another team to migrate our Azure services to an Azure Kubernetes cluster

Managed IT and Engineering as well as due diligence as gopuff grew to a $15B valuation. 

Contract negotiation with vendors, working with the CFO to make strategic investments to grow our product's capabilities. 

Recruited and grew the engineering team to over 60 people with a focus on building a diverse and trusting culture. 

Deployed a new and modern eCommerce application that allowed our business to run numerous experiments. The key focused on enabling UX changes at runtime without requiring our customers to download an updated version.

Designed and Deployed a location-based inventory system that wrapped the legacy system and allowed iterative improvements.

Designed our data engineering pipelines and reporting systems.

The founders recruited me to make software a strategic advantage for goPuff. When you are in the business of quick consumer delivery, 'good enough' software doesn't cut it.

I'm leading the goPuff technical team, reporting to the founders, and working hard to disrupt an industry. In addition to building a world-class distributed system, my major focus is recruiting the best people to grow our team.

I'm responsible for everything from traditional IT of laptop procurement and facilities networking to web/app development and logistics systems. 

Being able to sustain hypergrowth 10x per year has been a real challenge. The core system was a traditional monolith that could not scale. I quickly wrapped it with a event based caching layer that continues to be the core architecture of gopuff in 2022.

I managed the development team for NRG’s East Retail business.

I lead a replatforming effort for our customer pricing system. This involved connecting our AWS based system to NRG Retail's on prem SAP based systems. 

We modernized our stack with devops practices and migrated from managed servers hosted locally to containers running on AWS. New work migrated from php to React/Vue frontends connecting to AWS lambdas with SQS queues moving events from the cloud to the on prem databases. 

We transformed complex synchronous processes into loosely coupled async message  stream based systems. This resulted in near real time processing of billing systems that used to run in daily batches taking hours.

In order to grow our Agile and DevOps practices I also drove digital transformation at the organizational level.

Early in 2013 I supported the collaboration between EnergyPlus and NRG's IT groups in order to leverage the best of each for our future collaborations. 

I deployed a new loyalty program system (NAP - National Awarding Platform)  that utilizes an Event Source model in its core and is deployed as a series of lightweight, asynchronous workers in the cloud. 

Worked with the NRG Architecture team on a variety of strategic projects to leverage NRG’s Texas centric (ERCOT) SAP platform for use in our national retail expansion. 

Recruited by Energy Plus to lead the development and technical operations teams through the NRG acquisition.

Lead the custom development and technical operations to support Energy Plus's Retail business.

By applying agile web style development to traditional back office applications I'm refactoring a series legacy monolithic systems into a smart orchestrated service based platform.

Focusing on the engineering process, I consolidated the front end development teams into vertical teams.  Developers working on http://xfinityTV.com and http://comcast.net are now working together under a common SDLC.. This allowed me to measure and increase the efficiency of our engineering team and reduce duplicated efforts. 

Using weekly metrics such as number of QA cycles and production incidents per user story I'm leading my team to understand and adopt test driven development. My groups maintains a negative bug velocity (more bugs closed per iteration then opened) while delivering on a 3 week cycle. 

We also built out the new www.xfinity.com website and transitions functionality from the legacy Comcast.net property.

I formally moved towards Agile and hired a scrum consultant to bootstrap and train the extended team. 

By applying an engineering process to our search product I enabled our business unit to quantify the health of our vendor back systems.  Using A/B testing we were able to double the search revenue and continually find incremental improvements.

I added A/B testing functionality to Comcast.net and worked to assist the business in making data based decisions.

I architected and deployed the Java software stack that powers http://www.comcast.net and executed a flash cut of 18MM users to the new system.

The new stack featured a loosely coupled RESTful API with rendering tier built on Spring MVC and Freemarker.

This migration included building out a new data center.

With the portal under our control we were able to triple its revenue and deploy new features weekly

The new stack features a loosely coupled RESTful API with rendering tier built on Spring MVC and Freemarker deployed on Solaris with an Akamai CDN.

This migration included building two new data centers (Denver and Philadelphia)
With the portal under our control we were able to triple its revenue and deploy new features weekly. 

I then introduced A/B testing to take advantage of our new speed which resulted in many improvements and a doubling of search revenue through optimization alone in six months

I championed our digital transformation by modernizing source control practices and introducing XP development methodologies (TDD)
