How I Transitioned from Traditional Employment to an AI-Driven Entrepreneurial Path

For many years, I followed a cookie-cutter employment path, focusing on doing a good job and climbing the corporate ladder. Entrepreneurship wasn't even on my radar early in my career. It was only when I found myself in a position of needing to explore other income streams that I began to shift my mindset.

As I progressed in my career, it became increasingly clear that relying on a single income controlled by someone else was a precarious position to be in. While I'm aware of my privilege and am far from struggling, the desire for more control over my time and financial future became an important part of my identity.

The rapid advancements in AI over the last few years have significantly influenced my approach to solving problems. I've always had a bit of an automation mindset, looking for ways to connect different tools and streamline business processes. But as AI has become more ubiquitous and powerful, I've started to realize just how much it can revolutionize content creation and enable even non-technical people to leverage it.

Using a combination of AI tools, I was able to write code, set up a local development environment, and launch a production-ready application, despite not being a highly skilled programmer. The ability to have an AI assistant break down technical concepts, provide code snippets, and troubleshoot errors made the process achievable for me.

This realization of AI's potential to lower the barrier to entry for entrepreneurship was eye-opening. It became less about knowing how to code and more about knowing how to communicate with AI to build what you envision. Helping others understand and utilize AI for their own benefit has become a key focus for me.

My professional journey has been a natural progression from wanting to automate processes to now harnessing AI to streamline content creation in a way that authentically represents each individual. Personal branding and content have never been more important for succeeding in today's market. Endgn, the company I co-founded, is designed to make that process as easy and effective as possible.

How I Learned the Value of Diving into the Deep End and Figuring Things Out as I Go

☛ When made redundant in 2015, I unapologetically reached out to partners of consulting firms on LinkedIn saying "Hey, I can do this stuff you need. Do you have any work for me?"
☛ I may not have been 100% accurate in my pitch, but I knew I was good at learning things quickly and building the plane on the way down.
☛ My approach was that I'd rather sink or swim on my own merits than be handheld the whole time. And it paid off - I got my start in what became my career path for years.
☛ Since then, I've taken several plunges into learning new things and figuring out how to build what clients need on the way.
☛ If something else presents itself that makes more sense to focus on, I'm able to pivot and not feel tied to sunk costs. I can appreciate the cost but extract the learnings without being bound by them.

Why most people fail:

☛ They play it safe, sticking only to what they already know rather than pushing themselves to learn and adapt quickly.
☛ They feel they have to finish what they started because of the time/money invested, even when pivoting makes more sense.
☛ They get hung up on sunk costs and treat them as a reason to stay the course rather than adjusting based on new information. 
☛ They wait until they feel 100% capable of something before trying, rather than figuring it out as they go.
☛ They prioritize avoiding short-term failure over maximizing long-term learning and growth.

I achieved setting realistic goals to avoid burnout as an entrepreneur.

All without sacrificing my work-life balance.

Use these 3 steps to take you from overwhelmed to in control without all the mistakes:

Phase 1: Identify Your Priorities

☛ Rank them in order of importance
☛ Focus on the top 3-5 only

Phase 2: Break Goals Down

☛ Take each priority goal and break it into small, actionable tasks
☛ Assign realistic deadlines to each task
☛ Schedule tasks into your calendar

Phase 3: Protect Your Time

☛ Block off non-negotiable personal time 
☛ Delegate or eliminate non-essential tasks
☛ Learn to say no to requests that don't align with priorities
