Andrew A. Schwartz holds the Laurence W. DeMuth Chair in Business Law at the University of Colorado Law School, where he teaches and writes in the areas of corporate, securities, and contract law. He is a leading voice in these fields, with work that has been widely cited by courts—including multiple decisions by the Delaware Court of Chancery—and commentators around the world. Professor Schwartz is the author of 'Investment Crowdfunding' (Oxford University Press, 2023), and has published more than forty scholarly articles in journals such as the UCLA Law Review, Yale Journal on Regulation, and New Zealand Law Review. His research explores the legal architecture of business and finance, with a growing focus on the temporal life of organizations. He earned his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he graduated with top honors, served on the Columbia Law Review, and worked as a research assistant to Professor E. Allan Farnsworth. Following law school, he clerked on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and practiced corporate law at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. An experienced international scholar, Professor Schwartz was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Auckland in 2017 and has returned there regularly as a visiting professor. He has also taught at the University of Haifa and other institutions abroad.
