I was a senior executive and professional engineer with more than 20 years of experience building companies and advising leadership in large organizations. Then, in February 2021, I suffered a near-death heart attack. This was my falling upward moment. I made up my mind that I was going to dramatically change my life. I was going to move from a life of deadlines to a life of purpose. Sixteen months later on 1 June 2022, I boarded a plane with one bag, containing everything I owned, to start my new life. I am now living my desired future on an island called Lombok in the Indonesian archipelago. This was the start of my journey to simple living.
