Yandex Ads created a unique opportunity for a broader audience to click, swipe, or tap through destinations, events, and activities.
Our design incorporated an interactive experience using dynamic landing pages showcasing Saudi Arabia’s main tourist attractions and events. The user’s journey began with a tap on an object in Yandex Maps.

This action took them to a landing page with detailed information about Saudi Arabia’s happenings and events.

While using this site, Russian visitors learned that incredible, undiscovered adventures in Saudi Arabia are just a click away. Yandex Ads and Visit Saudi teamed up and presented an easy and exciting way to check out all the latest happenings inside Yandex Maps.

Our pioneering approach brought festivals and events to life and illustrated the fascinating experiences Saudi Arabia offers its guests in a completely new format.

For this campaign, Yandex Ads leveraged three ad formats to bring the experience to life:
Object on the main screen: A visually appealing object with the inscription “Storm of Emotions” appears on the main page of Yandex Maps.
Premium billboard en route: A visually appealing turn table (or mixing consoles) is positioned along the user’s path.

Influencers Take Center Stage in India's 2024 General Elections

Social media is rapidly transforming the political landscape in India, with influencers playing an increasingly crucial role in the upcoming 2024 General Elections.

According to a study by Statista, ad spending in the Influencer Advertising market worldwide is forecasted to reach US $35.09 billion in 2024 and is expected to experience an annual growth rate (CAGR 2024-2029) of 9.91%, leading to a projected market volume of US $56.28 billion by 2029. In India, influencer marketing is expected to surge by 25% in 2024, reaching INR 2,344 crore, and further expand to INR 3,375 crore by 2026. 

During the 90 days before the assembly polls, the Congress, JDS, and BJP collectively spent about INR 2.6 crore on Facebook and Instagram ads, according to Meta's ad library report. Between January and May 2023, parties spent on Google ads – with BJP leading at INR 7.1 crore on 3,949 ads, and Congress spending INR 4.7 crore on 41 ads, as per Google's transparency report.

In June 2023, the Congress government in Rajasthan compensated influencers for promoting government ads on their pages with a pay scale ranging from INR 10,000 to INR 500,000 per month
 depending on their follower count. 
When the government of India publishes front-page advertisements in newspapers endorsing select social media influencers, with captions that read, “To stay safe online, hit pause” and “Trust only the real experts”, it is important to understand what has shifted their focus and the considerations to keep in mind while influencer marketing.

Ahead of World Health Day (April 7), a YouGov study spanning 17 global markets highlights an important trend: consumers in the Asia-Pacific region are increasingly turning to influencers for health and wellness guidance. 

Despite the availability of credible medical information and easy access to the internet, social media influencers are readily gaining substantial trust. 

In fact, specifically, in Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Singapore: 38% of consumers in Hong Kong 36% in Indonesia 21% in Singapore express confidence in at least some health advice provided by social media influencers.  In contrast, Australians demonstrate a significantly higher level of trust in medical practitioners (75%) and gym trainers (30%)—reflecting a different regional dynamic. In Singapore, the younger demographic,
 particularly Gen Z has a greater reliance on gym or personal trainers (44%) for health guidance compared to older generations, suggesting a generational shift in preferred sources of information.

AI and the UAE’s influencer scene

Since Chat-GPT and its ability to rapidly generate text-based content rose to prominence in early 2023, AI has become a fixture in tech news and beyond.
From the WGA strike that brought Hollywood to a standstill, to accidents involving self-driving cars, public discourse concerning artificial intelligence often carries as much caution as optimism.

One area in which AI’s impact has yet to be fully understood is deepfakes. With the technology readily available to imitate faces, mannerisms, and voices of famous figures, even the keenest eye can be deceived. 

Worse still, it could be detrimental to celebrities’ earning power.
As is often the case, the music industry was the canary in the coalmine for piracy enabled by technological advances. In April 2023, the AI-generated track ‘Heart On My Sleeve’ appeared to be a new collaboration between Drake and The Weeknd. It generated global headlines, and a Grammy nomination was rumoured.

More recently, the alarm has been raised in other sectors of the entertainment industry. The estate of George Carlin filed a lawsuit to prevent what was billed as an AI-generated comedy set of the late comedian. As his estate’s legal team put it, the show was “a piece of computer-generated click-bait which detracts from the value of Carlin’s comedic works and harms his reputation. It is a casual theft of a great American artist’s work.”

The opportunity created by the new technology is clear; record labels and movie studios can significantly reduce the cost of content production and also create new material based on the look and sound of beloved deceased artists.
Unsurprisingly, deepfake tech also raises novel legal questions as to what can be ‘owned’ and what is protectable under law.



HOW MIGHT AI AFFECT BRANDS AND AGENCIES IN THE UAE?
While the uncertainties posed by deepfakes to the music and film industries may represent billion-dollar questions in LA and London, these are relatively nascent sectors in the UAE.

However, with all-year sunshine and a famously photogenic skyline (not to mention a favourable tax environment), Dubai is a major hub for social media influencers.

Globally, this sector has risen in importance to become worth an estimated US$250bn annually, according to Business Insider.

Leading names can charge in excess of AED 100,000 per endorsement post.
In this context, innovative tech solutions may provide opportunities for the UAE’s advertising industry, as brands and agencies might use AI technology to lower the cost of content production and eradicate the need to pay endorsement fees to influencers.



While image rights may not enjoy the same protection under law as, for example, copyrighted works, there are other legal concepts available.
Defamation is not only a crime under the UAE’s Penal Code but is also expressly covered by Anti-Cybercrime laws (both enacted in 2021, when the UAE federal government issued a raft of best-in-class legislation).
