1. Find your ICP (Ideal Client Profile)

↳ Industry
↳ Company Size
↳ Title

2. Pain Point is everything

↳ Get feedback from your existing clients, why did they start using your product/service, what pain did you solve
↳ Get on the phone - talk to your prospects, A/B test what makes them tick
↳ Put it in a call script - this doesn't mean read off your script

3. Build a list

↳ Find your ICP contact data using upcell (there are other data providers, but nothing compares)
↳ Put it in an excel spreadsheet
↳ Accurate data is key - again, upcell

4. Tracking and follow up go hand in hand

↳ Get a CRM - Zoho CRM, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce are all great options (Bigin by Zoho CRM if you need a cheaper, simpler CRM)
↳ Take notes, schedule activities
↳ The fortune is in the follow up - when you track your interactions with prospects, you become a follow up master

5. It's a volume game

↳ Get on the PHONE
↳ Yes, strategy is what makes you better over time but the only way to get better instantly is by making MORE calls, reaching out to MORE people
↳ Your product is not for everyone, look for the prospects that you can provide VALUE to

How are there so many people who don’t know this?

I was talking to someone and I said “CRM”. 

“What’s a CRM?” He asked me. 

It’s crazy how when you do something all day, every day, certain things seem to become common knowledge, and you don’t realize that these are things a lot of people don’t know.

So… CRM stands for “Customer Relationship Management”. 

It’s a system that sales teams use to track their relationships with clients and prospects. 

When you work with a lot of clients at once and you are reaching out to a lot of prospects, you can start to lose track of where you are at with each one. 

A CRM helps with that. 

Some of the most common CRMs are Zoho CRM, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce.

I remember my first SDR position I was wondering why the numbers just wouldn’t add up. 

Here’s why businesses don’t succeed when trying to build SDR teams. 

→ No patience. Business owners set unrealistic targets because they want to get a ROI right away. 

The problem? Cold outreach is a long term investment. 

→ You are talking to the WRONG people. 

It’s easy to just call the list, but filtering and spending time with people that CAN and WANT to buy from you is a game changer.

How to easily be more productive. 


Once a week, I take 3-4 hours and go work at a coffee shop. 

My go-to place?

IKEA

➡️ The coffee is free to refill as many times as you’d like

➡️ Its fairly quiet

➡️ The WiFi actually works fast

I get so much work done while also feeling like I got a break.

Why should you need to stay at your desk all day?

The difference between successful people and unsuccessful people. 

Unsuccessful people:

❌ View competitors as a threat

❌ Take criticism and feedback personally
 
❌ Only care about what they can ‘take’ from others

Successful people:

✅ Collaborate with competitors and understand there’s enough business for everyone

✅ Love any type of criticism and feedback and use it to improve

✅ Always looking for ways to ‘give’ to others

Forget about success, life is better when you follow the latter.

Here’s a hot take. 

AEs shouldn’t complain that leads from their SDRs aren’t qualified enough. 

Your SDRs are hustling on the phones all day long while AEs sit on YouTube waiting for meetings to flow onto your calendar. 

Oh AEs also get way higher commission that your SDRs get. 

The solution?

--> Create qualification criteria and stick to them. If a lead matches the criteria, your SDR should get compensated for it. 

--> AEs targets shouldn’t be based on the percentage of opportunities they close, it just motivates them to reject meetings. 

I promise there’s no harm in AEs taking more calls.
