Taking minutes for Engagement Council meetings and distributing them to the team after each meeting. Taking on chairing meetings when the chairperson is absent. Booking meeting rooms and organising the meeting at a time that suits the majority of required attendees. Discussion of topics and ideas with an aim to increase engagement within the BU. Event planning and management, including purchasing of goods for events, and organising timelines to enable the smooth running of events. Brainstorming of ideas for featured sections in our BU newsletter: The Sensient Scoop. Reflecting on successes of previous event and working to constantly develop as a team and build on our initiative. Encouraging maintained focus throughout meetings.

Sensient Engagement Council Secretary/ Vice Chair

As a QC Technician at Sensient Technologies, I carry out Quality Control testing to ensure that various products including flavours and fragrances are within specification. 

Currently I am working with the Quality Manager and the Technical and Compliance Expert in Quality to expand and develop the training programme for new starters within the QC Department. I am leading the change by updating SOPs and other training documentation, as well as developing a more thorough tracking system with the aim to draw up a set training timeline for new employees in the department. 

I liaise with colleagues in the warehouse, production facility and customer service department to deliver a timely, thorough and high standard of work. Regularly under pressure to release urgent products, I have excellent time management and communication skills as well as an eye for detail. When faced with problematic or challenging situations, I am quick to react and inform the appropriate parties, providing as much information as possible and an revised estimated time of product release.

Quality Control Technician II

Performing Quality Control testing on flavour and fragrance products for the food and beverage industry. Running lab-scale raw material extractions and chemical tests as well as lab trials for natural extracts. 

Taking the lead training new starters whilst developing training documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Liaising with Quality Managers to increase lab efficiency and refine the new starter on-boarding process.

Quality Control Technician

Fully trained Extraction Chemist. Competent in several UKAS accredited sample extraction procedures at trace levels in water, wastewater, and food. As well as multiple other procedures involving the extraction of soils, crops, and urine. 

Daily responsibilities including quality control checks and calibrations - also responsible for relaying essential quality documents to the Quality Management team whilst they worked from home during the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Regularly responsible for training new staff members in key skills such as use and calibration of auto-pipettes and balances as well as some of the extraction procedures used on site. 

Daily co-ordination of a team of 5 Extraction Chemists, ensuring confidence and full knowledge in their assigned tasks for the day. Regular liaison with Senior Analysts to plan out daily assigned tasks, with consideration of task priority, team workload, laboratory logistics, and equipment availability. 

Taken part in method development both practically and literally - laboratory based experimental method development and assisted in the revision of method SOPs.

Whilst studying at university I worked part-time as a leisure assistant who ran childrens parties, organised public use of the toboggan, and set-up skis and snowboards for the public in preparation for lessons or open ski sessions. I thoroughly enjoyed this position as I ski and snowboard myself so have an interest in the industry. I was also able to add this placement to the list of times I have worked with young people.

Hi, I’m Abi, I’m new to LinkedIn and I wanted to share some of my experiences with you: 

As a QC Technician at Sensient Technologies, I conduct a wide range of Quality Control testing methods on a day to day basis to ensure that various products including liquid flavours and raw materials are within specification. 

As a member of the Quality team I work to improve our training programme, schedules, documents and timelines. As I result, I am proficient in leadership and communication. In my professional experience, I have trained more than 10 young scientists. 

I am also the Secretary for the Sensient Engagement Council. As a council, we aim to facilitate increased engagement within the BU. As Secretary, I take meeting minutes, book the meeting rooms, and liaise with my fellow council members to brainstorm ideas for events that we could facilitate, as well as ideas for our BU newsletter.
