As Head of Research at Nasscom, I’ve led some of India’s most cited work on digital transformation, AI adoption, tech policy, and the evolving role of GCCs. My work has shaped boardroom conversations, government frameworks, and startup strategies alike — always with one goal: turning complexity into clarity.

Over the years, I’ve advised Fortune 500 firms, global investors, and Indian ministries on technology trends and industry shifts. Whether it’s mapping the future of work, building data-driven narratives, or identifying white spaces in mobility, cloud, or AI — I bring a blend of analytical depth, industry context, and storytelling that drives impact. Several of the reports I’ve led have influenced real-world decisions, from market entries to policy pivots.

It was wonderful connecting with Sailaja Josyula (She / Her), SVP & Global Head of the GCC Service Line at Cognizant, during my Hyderabad visit last week. Their new Kokapet campus was stunning.

Sailaja’s career journey truly stands out: deep GCC experience at HSBC and Thomson Reuters, leadership in Cognizant’s #BFSI vertical, a consulting stint at EY, and now returning to lead Cognizant’s GCC business. Her leadership background underscores the strategic importance of this space for Cognizant and why she is the right person to build a differentiated play in a rapidly saturating market.

At HFS Research, we coined “Services-as-Software (SaS)” to describe the industry’s shift from linear, labor-driven models to software-like scaling through platforms, AI agents, and automation. Cognizant is among the few tech services firms already showing signs of this transformation, with rising revenue per FTE and margin per FTE.

Some conversations feel less like a catch-up and more like a reminder of why certain people leave a lasting impact.

Meeting Kiran Cherukuri, EVP & Global GCC Practice Leader at HCLTech, was exactly that- and at a spot owned by India’s very own No. 18 adding to the charm- so yes, the bleed blue spirit was strong (the blue glow in our photo! 😉)

What I’ve always admired about Kiran is the arc of his journey- starting in corporate to power India's early tech boom, stepping out to build something of his own, and then returning to corporate leadership with even deeper perspective and purpose. His contributions to strengthening the Hyderabad ecosystem have been especially meaningful. All in all, he is a veritable encyclopedia of who, what, and how in the Indian tech! 

Seeing him back at HCLTech in a role that’s all about scaling the GCC practice feels like a perfect match. HCLTech is already one of the fastest-growing tech services firms in India, and bringing Kiran into this mandate is a strong signal of where they’re headed next...
