The end of an ERA… 

Today I say goodbye to a place that has shaped my future. 

For the last 1267 days I have had the absolute pleasure of calling myself a Kaseyan. I’ve had the honor of being promoted 4x, holding 2 titles as an individual contributor, and 3 titles as a manager. I was fortunate to work with hundreds of MSPs, IT teams, and Cybersecurity professionals. I learned to craft dynamic business solutions and nurture key relationships. I was given the opportunity to travel to events, conferences, and sales kick-offs. AND I was entrusted with the leadership of an entire office and AM team in ATL.

Through all of these experiences, memories, and moments, I am leaving GRATEFUL for the people I have had the honor of working with. 

I say this often, “It’s less about WHAT you do, and more about WHO you do it with!”

There are so many people I want to thank, but first I want to thank God for this incredible opportunity. Proverbs 16:9

I’ve made this mistake before… 👀

Thinking that micromanaging leads to a successful team…

Micromanaging Leaders 📣 your approach won’t work!

Lacking trust, threatening, degrading and putting your people down with negative reinforcement is NOT how you build a team. 

I’ve seen the worst power trips and ego-centric responses come from micromanagers. 

The opposite of this is a concept I like to call: 
“Start With The A”

Here’s what it means…

In college (at least my college) you started a class at the beginning of a semester with a 0% - a failing grade. And then you had to earn points by completing assignments to eventually arrive at the end of the semester with a chance of earning the A. This methodology is perfectly fine in school. 

But in the workforce, in real life, you need to start with the A. Assume the person doing the job is equipped, trustworthy, and capable of executing. Isn’t this why you hired them in the first place? Believe the best in them. You see, accountability can exist without micromanaging. Let me say that again:

ACCOUNTABILITY CAN EXIST WITHOUT MICROMANAGING 🔥

High Trust + High Accountability = ingredients to a successful team

So let your people start with the A. If they fail an exam, then lower the grade, adjust the accountability/training and then let them earn back their A.
