"Dad, you look beautiful" 💗 Those words from my 7-1/2-year-old daughter made my heart glow this morning at 7:15 a.m. 🥰

Working from home most of the time means dressing casually.

But this morning, I had the pleasure of attending another powerful event focused on equity and diversity at the Josh Kraft Mattapan Teen Center's inaugural Business Breakfast from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston with my close friend, Bailey Snyder.

...so today, instead, I tucked in my shirt, tossed on a pair of dress pants, and put on dress shoes, which impressed my daughter.

I am continually inspired by those around me who are also focused on making positive changes for equity, and today was no exception with those both on-stage and off.

Sharing stories about how the club empowered many to believe in their ability to achieve anything and where that led them was monumental.

It was inspiring as hell to join the All Raise Boston: Agents of Change event this morning. 💗  
 
What a power-packed room of energy full of like-minded agents of change working toward gender and racial equity. 💪 
 
I'll share more in a later post about the event itself but I stepped into it being inspired by a recent article I read: "The Next Phase of Feminism is Matriarchy" (full article in the comments). 
 
New scholars, like Dr. Heide Goettner-Abendroth and Angela Saini, are some of the most powerful agents of change busting myths and shedding new light on the origins of the patriarchy. More importantly, they reveal the historical importance and vitality of matriarchal societies, thereby providing a much-needed vision for what could replace patriarchy. 
 
Look at that center of the circle and the idea that could transform the world: "In the beginning, the mothers.” 
 
Count me as more than an ally in working towards this shift - it's the core of my Energy Coach practice, where I hope to enable this change. 
 
We don't just need to #smashthepatriarchy, let's create the #matriarchy 🤗

It was a full house of 200 founders, investors, and allies who came together MassChallenge to focus on being agents of change for diverse women-building and funding companies.  
 
🔥 Hot takes from the panel:

This week, we're diving into a small bite of music history - and if you know me well, you already know The Band is my favorite band of all time. 
 
You know their music, mainly through songs like "The Weight," which is still frequently played and covered. 
 
The Band was a rock band formed in 1967. It consisted of Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, Robbie Robertson, and Levon Helm. They played with Bob Dylan repeatedly. 
 
Today's gem comes from their 1975 album, Northern Lights-Southern Cross. 
 
It may or may not have been about getting busted by the Mounties at the Canadian border, but you’d never know it. Rather than conveying a survivor’s melancholy tale of caution, it unfolds like a wink-filled memory shared among very old friends. 
 
Get lost in how they trade some greasy, funk-focused licks and round-about vocal duties.

Sadly, they disbanded a few decades ago after making a significant impact in the music world, so sit back and enjoy this musical symmetry and how they are goosing each other along as Levon coos, “Gimme some skin,” with some lip-smacking salaciousness.
