The government decided the degree of 'Accountant' is no longer "professional"

Besides being a weird dig towards accountants, what does this mean?

For obtaining a Bachelor's degree, it doesn't change much.

For the Master's degree, it will cap loan limits to $20,500, whereas before it used to be $50K.

For a lot of schools, this won't impact a lot.  For example, if you're an MT resident going to MSU, the average cost of a Master's is $12.3K, but if you're a non-resident, you'll need to find funding elsewhere.

This is a new rule; some of the technicalities might change, but you might start seeing more students in the next few years move from getting their MAcc to their MBA with a concentration in Accounting.

You may also start seeing fewer candidates with their Master's in Accounting, and they'll just go straight to public accounting after their BA.

So if you're a business that requires the Master's, you may want to rethink that or get creative; otherwise, in a couple of years, when it starts impacting students, you'll have a tough time.

I had a lousy Thanksgiving this year.

I meant to post a warning note before the holiday, but things went south quickly.

The stomach bug hit my family on Wednesday night. It didn’t go away until Sunday morning. (Thanks Kindergarden!)

The in-laws are visiting as well, so that is a fun dynamic to throw into the fire.

Despite looking into a bucket for the majority of the break, I felt fortunate.

I have my family, a good career that I enjoy, and, despite this temporary discomfort, my overall health is good.

I’m grateful to everyone who trusted me this year. You let me help with your job search or find talent for your teams.
