I recently spent a couple years traveling and working remotely in a freelance and consulting capacity, delivering business analyses, product strategy and rapid prototypes to clients in Canada, America and Australia.

-  Custom software implementation for marketing & consumer promotion automation; consuming, managing and securing brand customer information and promotion participation.

-  Adapting/converting traditional offline software into cloud-based; reporting on risks, opportunities, sacrifices and costs, as well as planning conversion to or implementation of a new version of the product in question.

Alert Driving provides driver training and safety solutions to fleets across the world.  A category creator and innovator - I'm co-leading a team of ~40 engineers/developers, business analysts, QA and other supporting team members in the development of a brand new solution that we'll be bringing to market in the new year!

Spotful

Spotful built a platform for point-and-click design and deployment of interactive, transactional video content to many supported platforms (from corporate websites to in-app interstitial advertisements to Google's Ad Platform itself).

*  Joined founding dev. team with express mandate to bring in industry standard development processes; reducing bugs/errors, bad deployments, poor team communication, etc.

*  Facilitated alignment between sales, executive and development teams' objectives.

*  Represented the development team in sales calls and meetings.

*  Oversaw development team growth from 3 to 8; and entire company from 6 to 18.

*  Mentored junior and intermediate-level developers.

*  Responsible for dev team's HR-related tasks, budgets, staffing, project & product management.

*  Responsible for evaluating technology partnership opportunities and solutions.

*  Guided a re-design of a monolithic and single-server application into service-oriented-architecture and scalable software, including: the separation of logical software components into their own applications (from one application to; an editor, a player, an administration panel, etc.); the design and addition of robust and scalable video encoding platform; the design and addition of a robust and scalable analytics collection, aggregation and reporting platform; an industry-standard for describing and interpreting interactive video content; etc.

*  Worked on an ad. network technology development team that developed, maintained and supported systems that scaled to 500m+ monthly visitors/impressions.

*  Aided in the conversion of a legacy PHP system into a Golang port that reduced server requirements by one or two orders of magnitude.

*  Worked within an Agile/SCRUM development process with the team to develop requirements, plans and validation criteria; and ultimately complete the required work within sprints.

*  Worked with product owner to develop medium and long-term plans for the core product.

It was at Canadian Viewpoint that I developed my knowledge and understanding of the Market Research industry. It was also my first start-up-like environment: small team; long hours; largely building a business (an online market research business) from the ground up and being responsible for many things. Things like:

-  Building out the software that allowed the building and management of their online research panel.
-  Building customized web-based software solutions to address unique studies' needs.
-  Managing Canadian Viewpoint's corporate website.
-  Managing the consumer facing side of the panel (tech. support).
