Nywele Nzuri by Jaz is an executive salon, barber and spa that's been operational for 12 years. It currently opened a new branch and launched it's own personal care product brand. 

I'm currently responsible for the market entry and brand building of the product brand, NNJ Organics. 

I also assist with the marketing strategies for the new salon branch, focusing on customer retention and effective salon management.

The 4 month internship at the agency taught me a lot about the intricate process of coming up with a brand that stands the test of time. It also taught me a lot about storytelling and  the importance of brand consistency. Fascinating experience.

Tentacle Communications is a media buying agency with other businesses. While there, it also had a local TV station in which I played a key role in the management of the staff and processes. 

One of my proudest achievements was securing a partnership with the media department of a local university to create attachment opportunities for its students. 

Managing a Kshs 30 million media buying campaign was another highlight while working here. 

Recognising and developing talent for different roles and seeing them thrive was such a pleasurable experience.

I enjoyed working here as the P.A. to the MD because of the exposure it gave me to how the C-suite and board members think/operate. 

I learned the importance of business structures, clear roles and responsibilities, and letting the staff understand how their role impacts the overall business vision. 

One of my key achievements was spearheading and managing the rebrand of the company. A brand they still use to date. 

Having a time-conscious boss taught me to equally become time-conscious and to always calendar things. 

This is where I feel like I matured as a professional.

Transcend Media is an advertising agency in Kenya.

It opened me up to the world of advertising, media buying, PR and seeing the inside workings of how some of our beloved ads come to life. 

As the front office, I ensured the smooth flow of the office asking sure the stage had what they needed to do their best job. Answering the phone, welcoming guests and making them feel comfortable, were a pleasure. 

Met some interesting people, made lifelong friends and ignited my passion for marketing.

A courier start up where I was the only permanent employee. A baptism by fire if ever there was one. 

I managed all aspects of the business including rider coordination, customer care, sales and marketing, and overseeing dispatch operations.

I got experience here in door to door sales mainly offices, with flyers of the business to get new clients. This was a very sobering experience - Interruption marketing if ever there was one. 

It's one of the reasons I appreciate permission marketing, taking the time to understand the product and its target and the value. 

I also learned a lot about the importance of customer experiences and making it as pleasurable, easy and valuable as possible. 

This job might be responsible for my love for start ups and and small businesses.

Amor Limited was a premiere in the wedding planning industry. 

As a perfectionist (now in recovery) and a control freak, this was one job that allowed me to put these traits to good use. 

A person's wedding day is one of their precious moments and being responsible for it going as planned or better is a serious undertaking. 

Challenging, yes, but so rewarding when the clients thank you for allowing them to enjoy their day with no worries. 

I still plan weddings from time to time.
