Light and material play explorations in Figma

It all started as a simple Figma experiment — 
just a few primitive shapes and some curiosity around blending modes. But as I kept layering, adjusting opacities, and tweaking hues, something clicked. I realized I could create a surprisingly convincing sense of depth and form, all within a 2D space.
What began as a quick play session evolved into a deeper exploration of faux 3D. I’ve worked with actual 3D tools before, but to my surprise, this process felt faster and more fun (for me, at least). There’s something really satisfying about bending 2D tools to behave like 3D ones — almost like tricking the canvas into believing there’s real light and shadow where none exist.

This illustration is the result of that exploration. Still having fun with Figma.
