Alam is currently working as a Revenue Accounting Manager at Uber. Previously he was a Finance Manager at Moneris, a leading uniform e-commerce solution. Alam also has public accounting background as he was at Deloitte as an Experienced Senior Accountant (Audit Public). He graduated from BCom- Specialized Honours in Accounting (formerly BAS) from York University, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting. He has been designated as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) by CPA Canada. Alam's CPA designation will help him use his financial expertise to foster an inclusive and a socially responsible business community. Aside from his professional career in FinTech, he is working with Success Beyond Limits (SBL), an organization which is focused on empowering youth in under privileged communities, and improve access to education. He serves on the Board of Directors of SBL, specifically in his capacity as the Treasurer. Furthermore, Alam is a Young Alumni Ambassador for his alma mater, York University, and has been actively involved with the Young Alumni Advisory Board in giving back to the York University community. In addition, he is actively involved in the DE&I space as a Lime Connect Ambassador working to "rebrand disability through achievement,", leading him to be the Tom Wilson Award Finalist. Furthermore, as a result of his diverse engagements/involvements, he has been recognized by York University as the Top 30 Under 30 Changemakers. He is keen upon empowering the post-secondary students in matters of academic governance where he was the Vice Chair of the Student Council of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies and had the privilege of being the student representative on the search committee for the new Dean of the Faculty. He also held the position of Senator at the York Senate, which is the highest governance body at York. He was heavily engaged on campus in matter of academic, governance and student engagement. As a result of his tremendous efforts and involvements, he was said to be "the perfect student" and "an ambassador of York University at home, and abroad." This led him to receive the highest honour an undergraduate student can receive, the Murray G. Ross Award (equivalent to the Valedictorian Award). Alam loves to travel and explore different cities around the world to have a better understanding of multiculturalism, and to further diversify his knowledge. He has travelled to more than 40 countries in 6 different continents and looks forward to continue this journey of adventuring around the world.
