I lead a consulting agency that helps nonprofits prove and improve their impact. I believe that creation was designed for perfect flourishing - where peace, wholeness, and harmony existed in every dimension of human experience. While this perfection has been disrupted, I see our work as participating in its restoration. Through strengthening organizations that serve others, we help renew what's broken and enable communities to thrive.

Our deep conviction that every person possesses inherent dignity drives us to help dismantle barriers preventing people from reaching their full potential. When nonprofits operate with excellence and clear vision, they become catalysts of renewal in their communities, helping create spaces where people and communities flourish as originally intended.

As founder and CEO, I guide Good Work's vision to transform nonprofits into high-impact organizations through strategic consulting, capacity building, and fractional solutions. By equipping nonprofits to maximize their effectiveness and demonstrate results, we aim to accelerate positive change and help restore communities to wholeness. Our ultimate goal is a world where every person and community can thrive as originally designed.

I started Alan Maxcy Photography in 2015. In my seven years of business, I have had the privilege to work with many clients including Zagat, Arco Design and Build, Ag-Pro Companies, Catalyst Conference, Taco Mac, Paradigm Marketing, Goldbond Global, YMCA of Metro Atlanta, and Olympic Athlete Kristi Castlin.

I am responsible for ensuring that Agape grows through strategic leadership and optimizing operating systems. I track impact measures and outcomes across departments and use that data for reporting to grants, annual reports, and other internal reports. I manage Agape’s Logic Models, Strategic Plans, and Continuous Quality Improvement committee. I help Agape grow towards our desired outcomes through strategic leadership and a dedication to Quality Improvement.

I was responsible for tracking impact measures and outcomes for reporting to grants and annual reports. I also used this data to help us grow and improve. I managed the program’s Logic Models, Strategic Plans, SWOT Analysis, Digital Solutions, and Software. I helped Agape grow towards its desired outcomes through strategy and tracking key performance indicators.

Deputy Director of Program Operations

I was responsible for managing all of the after-school program and summer camp's day-to-day operations. I managed a team of 12 people. I was responsible for 150+ students. I designed schedules, enrichment program curriculum, and the systems necessary for the program to run efficiently. We saw hundreds of volunteers each month and it was my responsibility for volunteers to have a good experience at Agape.

As the Community Groups Coordinator at Cumberland Community Church, I was responsible for administrative and organizational support for Community Groups and working with the Community Groups Pastor to launch and develop new groups.

I worked as the Camp Registrar at the Carl E. Sanders Buckhead YMCA. I was responsible for managing all camper registrations and payments for summer and school break camps.

Alan is a nonprofit expert with more than fifteen years of experience helping organizations maximize their impact. He has a track record of transforming grassroots initiatives into award-winning programs through strategic planning and implementation.

His nonprofit journey began at a housing and mentoring ministry in Montgomery, Alabama, where he transformed a new program through structured curriculum design and clear goals. It was here he discovered his passion for helping passionate nonprofits do the most good.

Alan's superpower is turning chaos into clarity and helping nonprofits prove and improve their impact.

When he's not helping non-profits, you'll find Alan perfecting his pizza dough recipe or cycling around Stone Mountain. Alan enjoys life with his wife Sherilee and their two wild and beautiful children, bonding over great coffee, good books, and going on adventures.
