At University, I applied to 12 internships, got 6 interviews and one job offer. When I graduated I applied for 10 jobs and only received one interview. Fortunately I got that job. I felt grateful for these opportunities. But they were a wake up call. A slight change in skills can be the difference between being jobless and landing a good paying job you love. I didn’t like this job though, but I honed my skills anyway. I also got coaching to improve my people skills. And I learned exactly what employers want to see from interviewees (and employees). And it paid off. I battled multiple interviews and competed against 3 candidates in the final round to land my current job. One that pays me what I deserve. But more importantly, a job I love. One that challenges me and offers major growth opportunity. I was so proud to work for this company that I set my phone wallpaper to the company logo. But many people aren’t as lucky. They end up in jobs that bore them, if they’re lucky. They’re underpaid and quit searching for new jobs because it’s too much work and never panned out in the past. And I plan to change that. I realized I have a skillset that can change lives. And even better, I have a process that anyone (in data science) can use to quickly prepare for interviews (and crush them). So I’m currently creating a program to help people looking to get into data science develop their skills, find meaningful work (that pays well), ace interviews, and stand out in their career.
