Alex Chung's Linkedin Analytics

I'm an ex-hedge fund manager that used machine learning (ML) and product leader at tier-1 tech firms turned startup CEO. I think of the world in terms of economic constructs, but have a computer science and ML background that lets me dive deep into many fields. I led computer vision DataOps for Instagram, Oculus, Portal, and Ads with the highest efficiency and throughput growth in the org, while still having a deep social impact across 4 continents. I also worked at Amazon Web Services, where I built the open source MLOps products for Amazon SageMaker. I now run an applied AI startup. I spend large amounts of time thinking about how technology and software can impact society. As we move into the next industrial cycle, social impact is critical to focus on and implement at scale to ensure we maximize positive outcomes for as many as possible. My work falls under 3 themes: social impact (philanthropy and ESG), investing (family office), and machine learning. While the deals I'm involved in may appear outside of those bounds, they can ultimately be tied back to those themes. I set a high bar across everything, including my hires and teams. I expect from myself and others execution excellence, bias for action, and critical thinking, yet respectful conduct, something rare in Silicon Valley in my observation. The end result matters as much as what route we took to get there. Graduated early from Cornell.
