If I was starting my fat loss journey tomorrow. 

THIS is what I would do…

1. Track calories 

If you’re in a calorie deficit you’ll lose fat. That’s a FACT. 

2. Focus on protein

Aim for 100g per day spread out over 3 main meals and a couple of snacks.

3. Lift weights 3 times a week

Concentrate on getting STRONG. 

4. Walk

Move, move, move. Walking is great for stripping body fat, overall fitness and mental health. 

5. Rest and recover

Sleeeep. Aim for at least 7 hours a night. Easier said than done when you’re a parent - believe me I get it. 

That’s it. 

That’s literally it. 

No really. THAT IS IT. 

If you followed these habits for the next month, day in day out, you’d be amazed at the results.

I’m still mourning the end of the Quality Street to be honest. We only have the toffee pennies left and they are a great big NO from me 🤢

When someone says:

“Oh that looks delicious but I’m trying to be good” 

Me:

“Relax Karen, it’s a mini egg cheesecake, not a line of coke and a bottle of whiskey” 

We don’t do restriction in my crew. 

Nope. 

Not for us thanks 🙅🏼‍♀️

We don’t cut out carbs. 

We don’t cut out fats. 

We don’t get up at 5am. 

We don’t sit in bins full of ice water. 

We don’t skip meals. 

We don’t spend hours in the gym. 

We don’t workout every day. 

We don’t miss out on social occasions. 

We don’t just rely on the scales as a measure of progress. 

BUT

We do enjoy food. 

We do have rest days. 

We do work on our mindset. 

We do strength train. 

We do focus on how we feel. 

We do eat cheesecake.

We do get results. 

We do have fun along the way.

Everytime I post about this I get trolled.

But here we go. 

As mothers we’re under enough pressure day to day.

Without being made to feel guilty.

For taking some time out for US. 

So here’s the thing. 

I have no qualms about putting my kids on screens so I can get a workout in. 

And you know what? 

Neither should you. 

I’m a good Mum. 

And I’m an even better Mum if I’ve moved my body. 

And had 30 minutes to myself.

Rather than give everything to everyone else all day. 

And end the day a frazzled shell of a human. 

Will it be my best workout? 

Absolutely not. 

I’ll be interrupted at least 15262628 times to be asked for snacks. 

Or to help wipe a bum. 

But it keeps consistency. 

Which is the KEY to getting results. 

And to me keeping my mental health in check.

I also think it’s SO important to model to my children that both exercise and self care are non negotiables. 

That way they grow up with this being the norm. 

You don’t have to be an instagram “perfect” mother. 

Your workout doesn’t need to be perfect. 

Your nutrition doesn’t need to be perfect. 

All or something. 

Not all or nothing. 

That’s the goal. 

F*ck perfect.

We don’t know her ✌🏼

Walking into the gym without a plan. 

And jumping on any machine that’s free. 

Isn’t going to cut it. 

Sorry. 

We all know that person don’t we? 

The one that goes to the gym four times a week. 

But looks exactly the same as they did six months ago. 

What you need is a training plan. 

Designed for YOU. 

That’s heavy on the basics. 

And is progressive. 

In order for you to build strength. 

And build muscle. 

Improve fitness. 

And support hormonal and bone health. 

While losing body fat through your nutrition plan. 

These two things together. 

Will change your physique. 

Your confidence.

And your mindset.

Life is too short.

To be living on dust.

You know what?

You don’t have to lose weight if you don’t want to. 

Just because it’s January. 

Just because you enjoyed yourself over Christmas. 

Just because social media tells you that you should.

No quick fixes. 

No shake diets.

Yesterday was apparently “quitters day.”

The second Friday in January when more than half the people who made New Year’s resolutions have already binned them off.

Just 9 little days. 

Wow. 

If you made a resolution to make changes to your health and fitness in 2026, and you’ve already given up. 

It’s NOT because you’re a loser. 

It’s NOT a lack of motivation. 

It’s NOT a lack of information. 

It’s NOT a lack of time. 

It’s NOT your age.

It’s NOT your genetics. 

It’s down to not having the right systems in place to get you where to want to go. 

It’s a lack of accountability. 

It’s the lack of a game plan. 

It’s a lack of specifics. 

If you’re taking advice from a 22 year old PT.

Who trains 6 days a week.

And gets up at 4:30am.

After removing their mouth tape, collagen face mask and castor oil wrap.

To meditate for an hour on their balcony with a rose quartz up their ass.

Before jumping in an ice bath.

Sipping on a matcha.

Embarking on a 22 step skin care routine.

And getting 1526363738 steps in.

It’s just not going to work for you. 

Is it? 

You’ll struggle to keep up with this frankly insane routine and eventually give up. 

You need to stay consistent.

And find a plan that works for YOU. 

That fits around your circumstances. 

Your life.

Your messy, hectic, chaotic, overwhelming life.
