💥 I had two BIG concerns going into that event!

A few weeks ago I was asked to speak at an upcoming dinner. 

✔️ Do I know the hosts?
✔️ Can I anticipate the crowd?
✔️ Do I have an appropriate message?

Yes... Yes... Yes...

🤷‍♂️ 

So what were my concerns?


👉 1. There were 4 major parties that needed to be acknowledged and included.

I was familiar with 3.

😲 The fourth party -  I had absolutely no clue about! Not even their names 

How could I be a fair representative of people I knew nothing about?


👉 2. I didn't know who else would be speaking that night. 

🤷‍♂️ Or - would there even be an MC or anybody else sharing remarks?

This makes a huge difference to the way I prepare to speak:

Do I need to incorporate welcome remarks?
What roles am I playing when I speak?
Do I need to warm up the crowd?


💟 From an emotional perspective - I love being the only speaker!


💡 It allows me so much freedom to build a case as I see fit without having to concern myself with narratives set in place by other creative minds. 

🕝 And of course... the crowd will allow you a few more minutes if you're any good!!

This is something that I do each year.
