Dollop

I only recently launched dollop - 28th Aug 2023 to be precise. For the last 6 or 7 years I've been working for myself as well as the day job and I finally felt the need to have something a bit more professional for prospective clients to see what I do and can do... so along came dollop. 

dollop is a small, yet friendly multi-disciplined design studio based in sunny Tauranga here in New Zealand.  We popped over from the UK in 2019 for a year but liked it so much we pitched our flag and stayed. Thanks for letting us stay New Zealand.

My role has a big UX / Visual design cross over with my time spent looking at ways to optimise the user journey for customers using our holiday websites. I work across two sites on projects both large and small dealing with external agencies and internal senior stakeholders within the business.  I've recently led the visual design and UX side of things for our luxury holiday finder with the brief to give customers a wider range of inspiration to the holidays we have on offer https://www.sovereign.com/luxury-holiday-finder/ 
Recently soft launched with a view to making a variety of round 2 UX improvements the tool is generation a lot of use and interest from our customers and is looking to be picked up by other brands under the company umbrella. 

I also played a big part in an online quote document for customers to share or use once they've spoken to one of the team over the phone. 

In my time at the company i've also worked on re-brands and a variety of customer documentation and print material.

TUI Travel PLC

My days are varied, interesting and often I’ll be working on two or three projects at once.  

I look at ways we can improve the user experience of our sites across devices, be that engaging the customer when browsing holidays and destinations or looking at ways to improve the booking flow. I spend my time researching, jotting down ideas and eventually presenting these to stakeholders. Once the design is approved my tasks also include testing, iterating and ensuring that the solutions we present are clean and easy to use, fit the brand and suit the business’ commercial needs as well as the customers. 

I think the digital experience a customer has should be held with equal importance to the visual design. It’s always interesting to watch user testing and from that, look for ways to improve the journey or AI. It’s always fantastic to see how little improvements and alterations can make a positive difference.   
Jobs will either be assigned to me or I’ll take on the research myself and look to get hard evidence of an area of the site that isn’t performing very well and offer ways of improvement. 

I have worked my way up to a higher position of responsibility in a short time and have been lucky enough to play a key role in larger projects such as leading the creative process of internal re-brands, leading the creative design of new projects, site platform changes and site improvements.

I have built up excellent working relationships with key stakeholders within the business as well as gaining a high level of trust within the digital, development and project teams.

I am confidently able to take on a brief and come up with a variety of well thought out creative and feasible solutions be that working on my own or within a team, often pitching these ideas and designs to key people within the business. I’ll always communicate with the development teams to make sure that what I’m designing is within scope and fits within their timeline.

I'm Senior Designer with over 9 years of experience delivering high quality creative solutions, products and designs to businesses big and small. 

I pride myself on a can do attitude and a great team ethos which allows me to communicate and work well with colleagues, key stakeholders and clients and ultimately deliver a great user friendly design that meets the need of the business and the customer. 

I've lead creative projects and brand direction, clearly and confidently presenting my design rational to clients from ideas through to completed products.

I've worked with and continue to work for start ups or smaller but established businesses to help bring their brands and ideas to life as well as making UX enhancements to their websites and applications.
I also work with authors to illustrate their children's books -I've now 5 published books to my name.

It's been a day of website testing, raising tickets, sending emails and general business admin..so, for a couple of hours this afternoon I treated myself to some prototype design for a touch screen job that also needs to be responsive to smaller devices.

I'm exited to see this one go live in conjunction with a fresh new website in the next few weeks. Both will hugely enhance their offering.

A good morning was had at the Collab Digital Marketing Breakfast this morning.Some interesting chitter chatter and learnings around brand and marketing.

One of the key points I took from the various presentations was to not cut corners around your branding.  It's always something i try to drum down on with the work I do for my clients, but I need to work harder at really highlighting the importance in taking the time and seeing value in getting not only the logo designed but the whole brand for all customer touch points from tone of voice, to marketing, to campaigns and the website... The whole picture should align and those impressions really count.
