Niagara Energy Products (NEP)

At Niagara Energy Products, I was leading the transformation of a nuclear valve product line to dramatically increase revenue, while acting as the Project Manager and Project Lead. With use of continuous improvement tools such as root cause analysis and PDCA cycles I was able to significantly improve on-time delivery margins, cost saving measures and inventory of raw materials. I constructively lead a team of engineering technologists to support the rapidly growing product line and implement workflow improvements resulting in crucial manpower optimizations.

Mechanical Engineering Technologist

CNTNR

At CNTNR, I was responsible for designing and detailing modular structures, focusing strongly on manufacturability of components and assemblies. With heavy focus on value engineering activities for structural designs to reduce labor and costs by means of designing common components, optimizing material cut lengths and revising manufacturing methods. I have had the opportunity to design, prototype, and develop manufacturing methods for our proprietary container locking mechanisms that significantly reduces onsite installation time and dramatically improves onsite safety.

VRE Systems

At VRE Systems I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that range from structural nature to a customer shopping cart. I have used SolidWorks to design and optimize structural designs to reduce the cost for the client. I have also had the benefit of introduced 3D Printing as a type of prototyping. This has proved beneficial in situations where a customer is having a quality issue that needs resolved in a timely manner. At VRE I have extensively used Keyshot rendering software to produce marketing material and photo renders of clients projects prior to completion.

Mechanical Designer

Jaylor

During my 8 month Co-op I was responsible for the redesigning of a manure spreader. During this project I showcased my skills using Inventor to model sheet metal components, weld assemblies and machined components. I used stress analysis and dynamic simulation to prove my concepts and ensure appropriate safety factors. I professionally presented design changes to the design team during weekly meetings and often asked for feedback on how the design could be improved to reduce cost, complexity, and even labor. Near the end of my Co-op term I was responsible for working with suppliers to make modifications to there products to allow for seamless operation on our product.

Junior Engineering Designer (Co-op)

Magellan Aerospace Limited

Responsible for the support and programming of a precision milling machine. Duties include support for machine health, programming changes based off new requirements or fine tuning changes. Independently and rapidly learned and adapted to the use of NX 8.5 and Catia v4 for the purpose of 5 axis machining.  Responsible for the completion and tracking of machine health checks done weekly. Confidently issue new programs with little to no supervisor assistance in a timely manner and following company protocol.

Effectively enforce rules by dealing with conflicts in a timely and appropriate manner while providing a fair explanative ruling. Verbally communicate with coaches and players to ensure the understanding of the rules. Responsibly act as a leader to younger children both mentoring and respecting them.

Umpire

Copernicus Educational Products

Responsible of the precise set up of brake press, hydraulic bender, hydraulic punch for the specific task. As well as quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistence of manufactured parts. Other duties included the operation of brake press, hydraulic bender, hydraulic punch and mig welding to accurately and proficiently complete assigned task before deadline. Actively looked for improvements in the manufacturing process and suggested improvement such as welding jigs or changes to machining operations. Independently communicated with the design team about products issues from a manufacturing standpoint and offered appropriate solutions on how manufacturing issues could be avoided.

Fabricator

Majority of tasks involved with my 6 month Co-Op, included designing and executing new product testing such as tip testing, strength testing, and drop testing to ensure all new products met company standards as well as consumer standards. Another task included proficiently and accurately making design modification using CAD/Solidworks, during the prototyping stage of new products to further improve the overall design and function, while monitoring cost and ease of manufacturing, associated with design changes. Other tasks included actively participated in team meetings to brainstorm solutions, as well as offering appropriate solutions and accepting greater solutions from other team members.

Junior Industrial Designer

Arthur Greenhouses

Worked as a general labourer, for a small greenhouse doing a variety of tasks from picking field produce to designing and creating improvements to increase daily production and lessen the physical or time consuming demand of everyday jobs. An example of this is designing and installing a simple cost effective watering system for the outdoor plants which saved wastewater  and made the process automated. This saved the time consuming task of watering by hand which took several hours. Other tasks included general maintenance on machinery and structures to prepare for harvest season.

Laborer

Full picture solution focused Mechanical Engineering Technologist. I have experience in both a design environment as well as a manufacturing environment which allows for the connection between, what works on paper and what works on the shop floor. I am a quick learner that is always keen to learn new things and think out side the box, to come to a solution. I never pass up the opportunity of a challenge because it allows me to expand my knowledge and understanding.
