I am a French National with 20 years’ experience in the media, digital and entertainment industry. In 2000, at 24, with a MSc degree in Entertainment Industries Management from la Sorbonne (Paris) under my arm, I borrow 30,000 Euros from banks to save the record company I am interning in, Abeille Musique Records, from bankruptcy. Five years later and while the music industry is going through a deep recession due to P2P illegal file sharing and the emergence of the single title CD, AMR realizes a record year by selling more than 65 million albums of Mozart. As a drastic business model, we decided to package Mozart entire works for €99. While controversial (it is hard to lower your margins, even if you don’t sell...) the competition follows, and more and more similar deals appear. Sensing the industry inevitable evolution and using the “Mozart” success, I found Qobuz in 2007, the first French music streaming service for audiophiles offering Hi-Res Audio, more than 10 years before Tidal. In 2008, I raise €5.2M and while Qobuz continues its growth, the global financial crisis and a model still in its infancy slow us down. I exit the company in 2016 to enjoy some quality time with my son and family (Qobuz is entering the US market in 2019). In 2017, with the growing media credibility problem, the ever presence of “fake news”, the opacity surrounding IPs, the content creation valuation concerns, I start to get “itchy” again. I have the idea of a global media platform, dedicated to collaborative content with the aims to re-invent the access to information, culture, knowledge and ultimately to stimulate the public debate while using new technologies to protect authors and creations. By December 2018, Panodyssey is born. Fast forward to July 2019 and Panodyssey is live! Check our innovative product.
