As the head of robotics, I manage the Robotics & IoT teams and projects as well as continuing to develop the autonomous mowing platform.
My experience at The Kobi includes:
- Develop a high-performance IPC stack interchangeable with ROS2
- Develop replacements for the ROS Action Server and topics for fast intra-process communication
- Develop the behaviour & state machine library
- Developing sensor drivers (Lidar, Ultrasounds, IMUs)
- Develop a we interface for live control of the robot during demonstration
- Develop the navigation stack
- Supervise the cloud platform
- Integration of the Vision system to third-party systems with a ROS2 interface as well as C and C++ IPC interfaces.
- Modularization of large legacy codebase (1M LOC)
- CI setup & maintenance
- Docker images setup & maintenance

Head of Software, Robotics

The Kobi is a service provider for industrial mower manufacturers. We are building the autonomous mower software stack that uses AI to enhance the features such as grass detection, border detection or object recognition.
My experience at The Kobi includes:

As the Lead Robotics Engineer, I lead the software team and develop autonomous robots from bottom up according to the client requirements. As the Architect, I design both the software, the embedded hardware architecture and the network architecture of the ULife Platform.
This includes every development including but not limited to:

- UWB localization using the Roadrunner and Pozyx

As a Robotics Engineer, I designed and implemented the Autonomy framework for both ground vehicles and drones. This includes:

- Mission-based synchronization between heterogeneous robots

Université catholique de Louvain

In collaboration with the MIT (Boston, MA), the UCL (Belgium) have the project to build with multicopters and ground robots. We realized a HW/SW UAV development platform based on ROS to allow other students to work on the project. 

- 10kg payload UAV
- Laser-based localization
- Task-based abstraction of the copter

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Invited two months at the MIT as part of my thesis on UAV autonomous control for construction. During those 2 months, we added the RTK-based localization and demonstrated the capabilities of our system.

Alexis Paques is a highly skilled robotics professional with a proven track record of success in developing autonomous robots and managing robotics teams and projects. With extensive experience in Rust, C++, and Python, Alexis has led the development of numerous robotics projects from the ground up, including the modularization of large legacy codebases and real time cloud interfaces to those products.
