New year - new accountabilities! Back to my sales roots - this time leading a dynamic team of sales professionals of nearly 60 wholesalers (external and internal) supporting Great-West Life and London Life products in the channels they operate in. Also oversee a large team of Mortgage Planning Specialists (approximately 30) that sell London Life mortgages in our Great-West Life and London Life  channels.

Directly accountable for providing sales leadership to team, helping align activities to drive sales results. In my role I also spend significant time presenting to advisors and end clients on financial products and financial planning.

Another big change - with a broader focus on marketing for all retail financial products (including life insurance and living benefits) for Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life in the Canadian retail market.

Directly accountable for the development and execution of marketing and communication plans supporting retail financial products. Oversaw strategic change in advertising approach to support Freedom 55 Financial brand. New campaign significantly improved how the brand was viewed in the marketplace.

Same title - but many roles and hats over the years as Great-West Life continued to dynamically grow it's wealth management business including the acquisition of Canada Life in 2003 as well as the addition of banking products such as leveraged loans, savings accounts and credit products. Directly accountable for marketing all retail investment and banking products under the Great-West Life, London Life, Canada Life, Quadrus Group of Funds, Quadrus Investment Services and Solutions Banking brands. Also contributed to product development initiatives including acting as the primary business lead on a large-scale introduction of a new investment platform to administer all investment fund products.

Sales increased in this time from approximately $2.3 billion to over $5.6 billion including a significant increase in mutual fund sales from $100 million to just over $600 million.

Participated in a variety of industry committees including the Segregated Fund Working Committee of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA)

Vice-president, Individual Retirement and Investment Services

Another promotion - and another big move. Responsible for marketing Great-West Life and London Life retail investment products including segregated funds, mutual funds, guaranteed interest options and annuities. Contributed to several product development initiatives including the launch of a highly successful high net worth product. Also helped develop and maintain proprietary asset allocation programs. Coordinated original research on risks of international investing including effects of currency movements on domestic returns, correlation of foreign markets to Canadian markets and effects of withholding taxes on net returns. Helped introduce new national conference - Summit - to London Life distribution channel - first meeting was sold out with over 800 attendees.

Responsible for the development of investment plans for affluent individuals utilizing segregated funds, mutual funds, wrap acocunts and private investment counsel products. Provided clients with regular updates and information relative to their investments and portfolios - constructing and monitoring investment policy statements.
