Hi, I'm Alice, aka the Fairy Blog Mother, which is the blog avatar I used when educating people how to blog and use WordPress. When I started blogging early in the 2000s I realised lots of people didn't understand about blogging, because it was too technical for them. So my aim was to explain it simply using everyday language people could understand, using pictorial screenshots with arrows to show each process in a step-by-step fashion. Since then other people have started to use this teaching method, though perhaps not as simply as I used to do. There are plenty of people who need things taken a bit slower, so they can process this better. This is a trait I have continued to use in my mentoring, teaching, blogging and course creation. In 2014 I took a break and moved onto exploring social interaction, after I realised many blogs had closed their comments because of the rise in spam. As a result The Commenting Club was created to educate people about the art of commenting on blogs and businesses about the benefits of social engagement and interaction on social media and elsewhere online. Now I have returned to the world of website and blog design (since websites are merely blogs with the commenting turned off). As I have always designed my own websites and blogs, I have explored many methods and systems along the way. The CMS I use is WordPress, and I also use Thrive Themes, which is a most intuitive and efficient method for web design, combined with fabulous digital marketing plugins designed to really enhance the business side of a website. I not only design websites, but train people how to edit their websites themselves. In addition, I also offer a monthly retainer service which allows me to edit, maintain, improve and expand people's websites as their businesses grow from strength to strength. My main focus is on more mature women who find websites and the digital world a bit more difficult than younger people. With my experience of teaching blogging and other digital technical stuff, I welcome the opportunity to help anyone who needs a more considerate and empathetic approach towards creating and maintaining a website. Not everybody is a whizz-bang when it comes to technology, and I am there to help them whenever it is needed.
