I taught PreK-G5 STEAM classes and connected the STEAM Curriculum to the PYP!  It was so rewarding making real-world connections for the Transdisciplinary Themes: Who We Are, Where We Are in Place and Time, How The World Works, How We Organize Ourselves, Sharing the Planet, and How We Express Ourselves.

As Grade Level Chair (GLC), it was my responsibility to oversee all teaching and learning for the Grade 4 Team and submit our planning to the Senior Management Team.  A team of 6 Teachers and 3 Learning Assistants; written plans, and assessments were created for English, Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Moral Education using the American Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards.  

In addition to GLC, I worked with the Senior Management Team to create and improve the School Evaluation Form (SEF); as well as participate in the Schoolwide Behavior Committee Initiative.  The focus of behavior was to strengthen and reward positive behaviors that were to be noticed and recognized by the larger community. 

Differentiation of instruction and personalized learning were my strong suits, I was observed and approached to mentor educators when the new Aldar Management took over. As a leader of learning, I provided strategies to incorporate technology and improve proficiency, as well as improvement of MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) scores.

Writing safety risk assessments, planning and organizing field trips, and leading afterschool activities such as yoga were a few other involvements.

Parent communication and involvement, as well as instilling research based best practices in teaching and learning, are the keys to creating a safe and successful environment for all.
