Its a new and exciting part of my main company at aQ2 Ltd. Flying commercially requires effectively a CAA pilots licence, or "permissions to fly". Exams have to be passed and a high level of safety and risk assessment skills have to be proven before the CAA will allow anyone to fly for commercial gain. Only a qualified pilot can get insured for Public Liability - essential when filming people, or indeed property.

After leaving Plessey (and a short stint selling photocopiers, OK I was young!!) I was offered a great opportunity to work at a small design studio. It was basically a sales role, but it was where I also cut my teeth on the Mac, working late after hours teaching myself how to layout artwork and create vector illustrations. The job kind of ended in tears, as the boss hadn't paid any tax, and I was made redundant, so that's when I started Aqumen Ltd with my colleague from Oaktree, and the rest, as they say is history.

I grew up with a very inquisitive mind, I remember my first Transistor radio, and had to pull it apart to see how it worked, of course as a 6 year old I had no idea what I was looking at, but that's where pulling things apart started! Move on 10 years and I started a 4 year apprenticeship at Plessey Military Communications. During the 4 years I learned how to be a fantastic communicator, but a very average electronic engineer. 
I left to become a Photocopy Sales Exec, because the job came with a company car, I was only 20!!
