Unlike some of the commentators on the subject of data privacy and protection, I believe the GDPR is really all about building and maintaining Trust.
So people know you can be trusted with their personal data.
Your customers.  Your employees...
...and your third party data processors.  They need to be able to trust you too.
Without trust, people aren’t going to be too keen to give you their personal data.  And if people don’t give you personal data, that’s a problem for your hospitality business.  Trust means bookings.
Trust.  It’s important.  I talk about trust a lot.  I don’t talk about fines very much.
You see, trust is the new marketing currency.  The GDPR represents one of the biggest changes in your relationship with customers and staff in decades.  It had to come.  Personal data is under constant threat.  We owe it to each other to be much more careful with it.  
There are lots of people all too willing to take advantage of the unwary.  The GDPR makes us all much more wary and responsible.  It means you’re in a better position to take care of other people’s personal data.  So they can trust you.  That’s a good thing.  It means more bookings.
