Allyson Mitchell is a coalition builder and fierce advocate for pursuing the circular economy to improve economic, environmental, and social outcomes. With a diverse background in environmental sustainability, public policy, design and law, Allyson has positioned herself as a dynamic and multi-dimensional leader who excels at bringing diverse groups of stakeholders together to achieve shared goals. Allyson is the Vice President of Sustainability at Mobile reCell, a Fishers, IN-based tech company focused on providing enterprises with a software solution that improves the circularity of their company-issued mobile devices and technology assets. In this role, she works closely with sustainability counterparts in a variety of organizations to advance sustainability in enterprise IT. She also helps customers deliver social impact via donation of recovered devices and/or the revenue earned from the resale of recovered devices to strategically aligned nonprofit organizations. Allyson was formerly the Executive Director of CIRCULAR INDIANA, previously known as Indiana Recycling Coalition (IRC). Under her leadership, Allyson secured the organization's largest-ever corporate sponsorship for 2 years in a row, raised the organization's largest-ever individual donor gift, and led the effort to create the Central Indiana Waste Diversion Pilot Project, a component of Indiana HEA 1226 (2022), which allocated an unprecedented $4M in state funding for recycling infrastructure investment for Marion County (Indianapolis). Allyson led the effort to address Indianapolis’ waste and recycling challenges while also engaging with and providing benefit to its partners across the state. The Indianapolis Circular Economy Initiative (ICEI) was initiated in early 2019, as a multi-stakeholder, multiyear collaborative effort, in partnership with the City of Indianapolis. She also served on the City of Indianapolis' Commission on Environmental Sustainability as a SME in recycling and the circular economy. Prior to leading Circular Indiana, Allyson served as the Director of Sustainability for Prosperity Indiana and created a sustainability planning and consulting company. She was a founding member of the City of Indianapolis’ Office of Sustainability and developed and taught the graduate-level course Sustainability Assessment at the IUPUI O’Neil School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA). In 2023, Allyson was recognized by Indiana University as a Hoosier Resilience Hero and completed the Stanley K. Lacy (SKL) Executive Leadership Series as a graduate of Class XLVI.
