Marketing Communications Specialist

nuflours

Nuflours is a gluten-free bakery located in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. In six years, I built the business from an idea to a stable operation that employed 15 people and poised for growth. As co-founder and CEO, I was responsible for all aspects of the business including:

- growth strategy development. 
- financial projections and project-based budgets. 
- raised capital for growth opportunities and maintained investor relationships.
- performed all human resource management functions, including the responsibility of setting company culture, staff recruitment, hiring and firing, internal investigations, introduction of new policies, handbook creation and maintenance, and creation and maintenance of all training and onboarding protocols.
- developed and managed marketing, sales, and outreach strategies to achieve aggressive revenue goals.
- built and rebuilt manufacturing systems to maximize production as we scaled.
- worked alongside employees in the production facility when needed. I knew how to bake every product we produced, performed finishing tasks, and completed packaging tasks for wholesale distribution.
- supervised and trained front-of-house staff, and performed customer service support as needed.
- supervised R&D and retail bakery production.

Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainier Region

Goodwill Industries is a multimillion-dollar non-profit organization that serves 15 Washington State counties with 31 retail locations. Goodwill turns donated goods into jobs that help people with disabilities and other barriers to employment get job training, social services, and educational opportunities. 

A sample of responsibilities included the:
- creation and management of short- and long-term communications and media relations strategies, including oversight of digital communications and social media, advertising, and digital purchasing strategies.
- creation of marketing collateral through print publications, website content, shareholder newsletters, internal newsletters, annual reports, brochures, and social media channels.
- primary community liaison for local markets.
- organization spokesperson in support of their retail business and community mission, and any crisis communications.
- creation and management of day-to-day content on the corporate website and intranet.
- design, implementation, and management of special event schedules.

Communications Manager

Seattle Theatre Group

STG is a multimillion-dollar non-profit arts organization that operates three historic Seattle venues. In this position, I was responsible for the creation and execution of all project-related and institutional communications plans. A sample of my responsibilities included:

- strategic public relations campaigns.Communications plans that aligned internal and external departmental goals with overall project goals.
- development of talking points for major projects to executives, board members, and staff.
- creation of marketing collateral and a social media presence. - 
- communications counsel and media training for artists, key business executives, and a variety of other stakeholders.
- media spokesperson and primary media contact for over 400 engagements a year.
- maintained relationships with press contacts to maximize institutional and project-related stories.
- supervised freelance videographers and photographers.

Public Relations Manager

As a Senior Account Executive, I handled the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar Animation Studios, Touchstone Pictures, and Hollywood Pictures), DreamWorks SKG, MGM, First Look Studios, Sony Pictures Classics, and Roadside Attraction film releases

Terry Hines and Associates was a national advertising and public relations agency with offices in major American cities. After a year as an account assistant, I was promoted to Account Executive then two years later became Senior Account Executive where I was also responsible for the functioning of the Seattle office that employed six publicists. Management duties included hiring full-time staff and interns, yearly evaluation and progress reports, and corrective behavior strategies and employment dismissal.

Seattle International Film Festival

Seattle International Film Festival is a non-profit organization responsible for the largest film festival in the nation. Hired specifically as a contract publicist for the duration of the 2003 Film Festival, my responsibilities for SIFF included: 
 - managed accreditation for over 250 local and international media. 
- pitched stories for over 150 films; this effort contributed to a record box office the first week of the festival.
- primary liaison between filmmakers and members of the press.
- facilitated interviews for filmmakers and guests.
- wrote press releases and media alerts.
- designed a database and archiving all stories related to SIFF and the 2003 film line-up.
