🇵🇱+🇵🇸🇯🇴 ➡️🇺🇸 Proudly the granddaughter of Polish immigrants who immigrated after WWII on my maternal side; & proudly the daughter of a Jordanian/ Palestinian immigrant on my paternal side! My parents separated when I was young. My Babcia took care of me growing up before she passed & she always spoke English to me so I never learned Polish. I didn’t live with my dad growing up so I can’t speak Arabic either - although I can pick up on it much more than Polish. I look much more Polish than Arab (the Arabs are always surprised when I tell them I am one of them hah!) You could say that I’ve never felt Polish enough, & I’ve never felt Arab enough. Like this misfit kid who can’t even fit into their own culture😆 This fueled me to not only learn more about my families cultures (traditions, politics, food, history, architecture, language, ways of life) but to learn about others cultures, too, like my godmother’s Puerto Rican and Cuban culture! In high school, I finally had the opportunity to learn a language. Most people chose Spanish, but I wanted to be different so I chose French. I studied French for 4 years & I am so glad I did as now I will be working in France for the Olympics working with people from all over the world! I can’t wait!
