Hi. I’m Amanda. I work with litigators who want to take their legal writing to the next level—whether that’s drafting more persuasive briefs, writing clearer emails to clients, writing thought-leadership articles, or just saving time on revisions. I also have a larger mission: I want to improve the way lawyers learn legal writing. There is too much focus on telling associates that they did something wrong. Instead, we should be teaching them how to do things right and encouraging them with our support. Legal writing is hard. Learning how to do it shouldn’t be. When lawyers write better—more clearly, simply, and succinctly—everyone in our profession wins. I am a mother and teacher at my core, and I adore nurturing new legal writers. I am working on creating a series of courses now, and there will likely be a second book in the future, too. Here is background: I spent 20 years as a litigator at a big law firm writing for demanding partners in high-stakes, complex, motion-heavy litigation. I wrote briefs, blogs, letters, client alerts, long-form articles, appeals, and everything in between, and I served as co-editor of two department blogs. In the process, I got trained by some of the best legal writers in the business. In 2021, I branched out on my own & formed Writing Law Tutors LLC.
