The world of data is in constant flux - with new regulations and considerations surrounding the data space it has become increasingly important to manage and monitor data integrity and governance. Within the advertising space alone the concerns around privacy and customer data have led to pivoting towards a cookie-less environment. These implications have been governing organizations across all industries since data is such an integral part of all businesses today. These considerations make it an extremely interesting time to be within the data and analytics space. As a Data Engineer and Analytics professional with 7 years of experience, I have had the opportunity to work on data from a myriad of industries - advertising, retail, insurance, technology, telecom, banking and the like to hone my technical skills as well as develop my understanding of datasets leveraged across the board. Working at a startup awarded me the opportunity to build data warehouses, data pipelines, implement workflows and create reports including standardized and ad-hoc custom reports based on clients’ needs and asks. To ensure the speed and efficiency of all inputs I migrated the existing ETL frameworks to a Python API script that enabled usability across platforms and reduced manual hours needed to complete reporting needs. Having a data engineering background allowed me to make a seamless transition to an analytics and insights role owing to the in-depth understanding of our data and its limitations. On the Analytics front, my role entails complete ownership of the clients’ business from creating reports to presenting and providing actionable insights and optimizations based on the data story. Traditionally, organizations used a top-down approach to see how their advertising and marketing efforts result in sales. At Shelvspace, I took a bottom-up approach - using sales data to provide insights into marketing opportunities thereby maximizing return on both the advertising front as well as sales to help clients maximize their bottom line. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking and playing with spice levels in my food.
