Founder

AIGA Asheville

Worked closely with Vice President John Hornsby to lead the AIGA Asheville Chapter (volunteer position).

• Co-coordinated AIGA Asheville Design Weekend (see below)
• Recruited and managed onboarding and orientation of Board members
• Collaborated with John to plan and lead our annual Board retreat
• Directed programming, and led initiatives to monetize programs and generate income for our Chapter
• Realigned our Board structure from a 20-member Board of Co-Chaired positions to an 11-member Board of Chairs who oversee with committees

Founding Vice President for the AIGA Asheville chapter (volunteer position)

Working closely with the founding President Reggie Tidwell, I kickstarted the planning process to form an AIGA chapter in Asheville, and collaborated on the organization & formation process. During our startup period (January-August 2019), I created digital and print graphics to promote local community members to join AIGA.

We needed 20 members to join AIGA at the Sustaining membership level (the third level) to become a chapter. We completed our documents and officially became a chapter in August 2019 with over 40 Sustaining members recruited.

As the Vice President, I:
• Created onboarding documents & orientation packets, and maintained an event planning process for our Board
• Served on the Executive Committee, assisting with key decision-making and communications
• Acted as a liaison between Board members and National Board Leadership when needed
• During startup and first two years, acted as the Secretary, scheduled Board meetings, recorded meeting minutes, and shared pertinent information with Board members
• Assisted in recruiting AIGA members and Board members
• Onboarded new Board members
• During startup and first year, assisted in management of Chapter's social media accounts and email newsletter
• During startup and first year, assisted Communications & Digital Content committees with design and promotion when creating content for events
• Assisted in communications between members, and in marketing and program initiatives
• Planned and organized events, and assisted the Programming committee in its initiatives
• Organized our Chapter Board orientations
• Attended National AIGA Leadership Retreats

Founding Vice President

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College

Adjunct Instructor in the Digital Media Technologies program, teaching students on track for the Digital Media AAS or the Digital Media Certificate.

I built on the skills students learned in the previous semester, instructing students through a large scale branding project for a fictional or real business. The project included logo design through conceptualization and process, presentation design, development of a logo suite and brand guidelines, mockup creation, marketing strategy and advertisement concepts and design, print design, and critiques. Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and general design process techniques were taught along the way.
