And the past 3 years have made me realise that System Design is as important as DSA.

And not just this, I understood that→

When it comes to System Design, most SDE’s misunderstand that- “Trying to make a perfect design (over-engineering), is not the right approach!”

I too made this mistake during my initial years of job switch. However, once, I caught the issue I improved and cracked good product companies.

Here’s what you should keep in mind when dealing with a System Design problem: 

Whenever you’re given an abstract problem → Always start by understanding the it fully, and make sure you ask questions to clarify any doubts.

This helps you to be on the same page as the Interviewer.

📌 Next up, make sure to identify any given constraints to make your solution apt.

For this, try to always start with the simplest solution. (Complexity can be added later if needed.)

📌 During these interviews rounds, communicating your tought is very very important, so practice a lot of Mock Interviews, and work on the Feedbacks you recieve. 

📌 To show in-depth understanding, mention potential trade-offs of your approach.

When I began competitive programming, I'd often jump straight into coding after reading the question, resulting in buggy and unoptimized code. Today, I visited my college🤩 after 3 years and gave an expert talk at the Samini Auditorium, where I had attended many expert talks by our alumni. 
It was a nostalgic moment for me. While giving the talk, I suddenly remembered a line from an alum who visited my college 5 years ago: 
"𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬." Indeed, it was true.

It was such a great experience for me to give an expert talk at my own college. When I left college, I thought I would never get a chance to come back, but it was a nice opportunity for me to return again.

I might have failed my Microsoft interview too, if I had not understood this💔 → 

When preparing for tech interviews as a Working Professional, DSA is just not enough.

So, during my job at Walmart, I attempted to interview for my dream company, but I ended up getting rejected.

However, since, there was a cooling period, I thought of applying to other product companies, which got me my shot at Microsoft. 🙌🏼

During my prep for the interview here, I made sure to prepare System Design thoroughly along with DSA.

I still remember the questions I was asked during my Design round at Microsoft. 

I was given 2 LLD problems, which to my surprise were the same as those I had already designed and practiced.

But the round was not that easy, the interviewer with his multiple follow-up complex cases tried to confuse me, but my good prep helped me answer them all. 💪

During System Design Rounds I have a simple approach → 

I never try to solve a new problem through an old approach that I used to solve a question.

Instead, I always start thinking from scratch. And I refer to my past approach only and only when I get stuck (just to take hints).

However, I see many working professionals who are struggling just like me, to figure out a structured learning path and prepare better for interviews.

While at Walmart, I cracked Microsoft, and it was all because of this→ 

My Consistency in DSA! 💪

But most working professionals when they try to make a switch, often end up getting Rejected. 😓

This case was with me, and INCONSISTENCY was one of the major reasons for this.

However, I cracked top product companies like MAANG, Microsoft, and this what helped me 😰

📌 I never got demotivated by Rejections. 

Believe me, I was rejected by my dream company twice. But I cracked it in my third attempt.

How? → I didn’t let Rejections get the best of me, instead I used them as a Motivation to understand what mistakes I was making. 💪

📌 Until and unless I achieved my target, I would never stop Chasing it.

Since, I was working a full-time job, BALANCE was everything. I made sure to dedicate post work 2-3 hours to DSA. 

Once, I made my DSA & problem-solving skills top-notch, I didn’t stop.

📌  Lastly, I never lost hope. I kept my eye on the ball. 

Remember → Never think that you can’t do anything (your mind is a powerful thing) make sure you keep Positive attitude everytime. 🙌

Today, I met a girl, let's call her Priya, and here is the conversation:

Priya: I don't get time on the weekends to explore my hobbies and relax.

Me: Why? What do you do on the weekends?

Priya: All my time gets consumed by cooking and doing laundry, etc.

Me: Do you do all these things yourself? Doesn't your boyfriend help you?

Priya: He's never done these things, and he doesn't know how to cook.

Me: Your boyfriend is a software engineer at a top PBC, and you both have the same level of IQ. How can he not learn cooking? It's been five years since you've been living together.

She gave me a disappointed look and changed the topic.

What I observed after seeing many examples like this is that girls generally accept that boys will never help them with any household chores, perhaps due to the trend they've seen since childhood in their families.

It was very shocking for me; she was cooking while her boyfriend was scrolling through reels in the hall, and she seemed okay with this.


POV: If you will accept that since you are women you will have to do both the job then you will never able to find the right person for you, Like I never accepted this and finally after rejecting many men I got men in my life who truly believe in equality and and we both help each other in all aspects of my our life non of the role is pre decided. Sometimes we both cook together, he cooks I do cleaning, some time he drive some time I, we both share all financial responsibility, he takes care of my parents equally as I take care of his parents.
Yes it's difficult to find men like him but if you will not compromise then other men will also change themself, it's difficult for them to change because in first 25-30 years of there life no one teach them these things, so instead of accepting things as it's try to change them it will be not only good for you but it will be good for him as well.

Note: I know many people will comment that her boyfriend earns money and all, so I want to clarify that she is working at Microsoft, probably earning more than her boyfriend.
