Does your inside match your outside?

For many years, mine did not.

Early in my sales management career, I was so focused on doing things correctly, perfectly and on my own.

I did not want to ask for much help, as I told myself I should know what I'm doing. They expected me to know, right?

I spent long working hours trying to stay as buttoned up and as polished as possible.

I worked hard to maintain the exterior of that person who knew exactly what she was doing.

Inside I was stressed out, frustrated and tired.

I felt I didn't belong where I was and often felt like a failure.

At one of my lowest points, I had a very impactful sit down conversation with someone in the company.

The conversation was different than I had with myself and others about how I felt.

I was given the time and space to think, to fully digest my situation.

I was asked more questions about the information we were discussing and about my thoughts on it.

I was challenged to think about things from a different perspective, to think of alternate ways of seeing the information before me.

I wasn't defined by the information we were discussing.

I felt seen.

I felt heard.

I felt hope.

That is coaching.

Deciding to make it a good week centers on thought work, the act of deciding.

You're making a conscious choice.

A good week...

• doesn't mean everything went perfectly.
• can be very challenging.
• can also have issues along the way.
• can have bad things happen.
• can involve hurt feelings, anger, being mad, or even tears.
• hardly ever equates to your best week ever.
• is simply that, a good week in whatever manner that looks like for you.

You are better equipped to handle things when they do go awry when you decide ahead of time it's going to be good regardless.

Decide to make it a good week!

What an amazing week it's been!

I've attended countless events, surrounded by wonderful people.

I've had the pleasure of meeting many new faces and reconnecting with familiar ones I haven't seen in awhile.

I've been proactive in booking nine 1:1 conversations to learn more about these new acquaintances.

I've coached my current clients hard to help them maintain the right mindset and stay focused on their goals.

I've booked new coaching consultations.

I put myself out there recording and sharing videos to showcase insights about my company.

Reflecting on this week, I'd like to highlight some key themes that may resonate with others striving for success

1. Approachability is key.

2. Simplify your offer to make learning and purchasing easy. Allow them to buy without being sold. If you want people to reach out to you, make sure you give them an easy way to do that. It's surprising how many individuals overlook providing a means for others to reach out to them.

3. Value first. Before asking, try giving.

4. Find a way to take action, even when motivation is lacking. Consistently successful people persevere, especially when faced with difficulty or reluctance.

5. You come first. You are the largest part of the equation.
