Just how far behind are we? The burning question from businesses I work with/meet. 🔥 Last week, I was in a room of business leaders, AI strategists and disruptors at an incredible roundtable hosted by the insanely smart Chris Ashley and Josh Cole Bolland. It was Chatham House rules so I can’t spill the specifics but the unfiltered reality is this.... Most businesses have dabbled with ChatGPT and some basic automation tools - and that's OK! (and also very dependant on Industry...) The UK is flirting with AI but we’re miles behind on Agentic AI, of course tech companies are winning the race here but what about the rest? AI is NOT just a tech project, it’s a business transformation. If AI isn’t a top level conversation in your boardroom then you’re already playing catch-up. Leaders need to be setting AI adoption transformation policies now, not in 12 months when the gap is even wider.... Culture eats AI for breakfast. The best tech in the world won’t fix a risk averse, slow-moving business. If you don’t have a culture that encourages AI experimentation, fails fast and learns faster, AI won’t save you. Workforce transformation, not workforce loss. The AI fear narrative? it's valid but also outdated. AI isn’t about replacing jobs but it WILL reshape them. We'd all talked ourselved out of a job within the first half an hour, by the second hour we were back in business 😅 🤣 The smartest companies are already investing in upskilling AI fluency across all teams. AI isn’t waiting for us. The UK’s biggest problem isn’t AI access, it’s AI adoption. Companies need a roadmap, not a reaction. The businesses that move now will lead. The ones that wait? They’ll be playing catch-up for years. So, how far behind are we? How far behind are you? Far enough that if you’re not taking action, you’re already losing.
