Lead magnets on LinkedIn are complete BS now.

You know exactly what I'm talking about:

→ Comment "X" and I'll send it over.
→ I spent 100s of hours making this, giving it away for free.
→ Make sure to connect so I can send it to you.

That whole thing.

Most of them are overpromising and then sending you garbage written by ChatGPT.

Or they never send you anything. Just inflate their follower count and disappear.

Or worst of all, they send it and immediately try to push you hard into buying their "world-changing" mini course.

You guys lost the point. (Talking to the ones doing this.)

Because sure, you can fool people once. You might even go viral.

But next time? You're stuck. People know you're full of it.

So stop the madness.

You're working your ass off and nobody cares.

That's infuriating.

You show up every day.
You do the work.

When you start a business, everyone thinks the hardest part is getting clients.

It's NOT.

The hardest part is not killing your business with your own hands.

This week, PromiseClick turned 2.

Most businesses don't make it here. We almost didn't.

Not because of competition or market conditions.

Because of mistakes I made that had nothing to do with any of that.

Here are the 5 that nearly killed us:

1/ I confused revenue with actual money

We'd have a good month and I'd feel like we're doing great.

Then I'd check the bank account.
Where did everything go?

Turns out revenue and cash are different things.

You can make money and still be broke. Happens more than you think.

Now I only care about one number: what can I spend today without stress?

Everything else is noise.

2/ I built things nobody asked for

We'd spend weeks making stuff we thought people needed.

Launch it. Wait for reactions.

Nothing...

Here's the pattern: every time we built what WE wanted, it flopped.

Every time we built what people actually asked for, it worked.

Sounds obvious now. Wasn't obvious then.

The market tells you what it wants. Just LISTEN.

3/ I planned when I should've been testing

I used to think more planning = better results.

Spent days on strategies.
Making everything perfect.

Meanwhile others were out there testing, failing, learning.

Planning feels safe. Feels productive.

But past a certain point, it's just fear dressed up as work.

Now if something takes more than a day to plan, we're stalling.

4/ I said yes when I meant no

Early days, I thought I needed every client.

Some were exhausting. Some didn't respect the work. Some just drained me.

But revenue is revenue, right?

Wrong.

One bad client blocks space for three good ones.

The energy they take, the time, the mental space, it's never worth it.

Saying "this isn't a fit" saved us more than any marketing strategy.

5/ I compared my beginning to everyone's highlight reel

Social media is a highlight reel.
Everyone looks like they figured it out.

And you're there struggling with basics, feeling behind.

Truth is, everyone's struggling with something. They just don't post about it.

The person with 100K followers has problems you don't see.

The 7-figure business has stress you don't know about.

Your messy Chapter 1 is supposed to be messy.
Stop comparing. Just build.

LinkedIn doesn't want you to win.

They want you to stay.

They want you scrolling.

Posting.
Engaging.
Spending hours on the platform.

Because the longer you're here, the more ads they show you. And that's how they make money.

Not from you winning. From you staying.

That's why they push all this advice through big creators:

"Comment on 50 posts a day."
"Post at 8:47 AM for maximum reach."

"Engage for two hours before you post."

It's all designed to keep you glued to the platform.

And you're doing it. Because you think that's how you win.

But look around.

The people actually making money aren't the ones commenting on everything.

They're not obsessing over posting times.

They're using LinkedIn as a tool. Not living in it.

They post. They connect with the right people. They move conversations off the platform fast.

Because LinkedIn is the starting point. Not the finish line.

Yeah, they'll tell you they want to make the platform "more human to human."

Who believes that? It's propaganda.

They're a billion-dollar company. They want engagement. They want your time.

So stop letting them trick you into thinking more activity equals more success.

Monetize your LinkedIn presence and make actual money.

Or stay here chasing their game and make them richer.

Everyone sounds the same on LinkedIn.

(Okay… at least 99%+, to avoid judging everyone.)

Same frameworks.
Same phrases.
Same energy.

→ "Let's dive in "
→ "Here's the truth nobody tells you:"
→ "Stop doing X. Start doing Y."

It's not that these are bad...

It's that when everyone uses them, nobody stands out.

I see founders copying what works for others.

Using someone else's tone.
Someone else's structure.
Someone else's style.

Hoping it'll work for them too.

It doesn't.

Because people don't follow formats.
They follow PEOPLE.

And you can't be a person if you sound like everyone else.

Here's what I learned:

Your weird is your advantage.

The way you explain things.
The examples you use.
The stories only you can tell.

That's what makes people remember you.

Not the framework you borrowed from someone with 50K followers.

Your voice isn't something you find in someone else's post.

It's already there.

You just have to stop hiding it.

Losing leads in your DMs?

Try "the 6 touch point rule."

I don't remember where I first heard this, but it's been working like crazy for me.

The idea: before you pitch anything to a prospect, you need at least 6 touch points with them.

On LinkedIn, that means:

- Likes
- Profile views
- Endorsements
- Comments on their posts
- DMs (not pitches, just normal conversation)

Your prospect needs to see you at least 6 times before you ask them for anything.

Since I started doing this, I saw a 23% increase in positive responses.

When I told a few people about this, they said "that's too slow, it takes 4 to 6 days per person."

Yeah, it does take time.

But, if you stick with it, this performs better than any other approach in the long run.

You're not just another stranger in their inbox anymore. By the time you pitch, they already know who you are.

So here's what you do: before you send that offer, make sure you've interacted with them at least 6 times first.

Build the touchpoints. Then pitch.

Algorithm doesn't care about you.

And that's good news.

You're tweaking posts to hit some magic formula.
Testing hooks. Watching what goes viral.

All to get the algorithm to push your stuff to more people.

Then it happens...

Your post blows up. 30,000+ impressions. Hundreds of likes.

And then... nothing.

Just random people who clicked and scrolled past.

Because the algorithm gave you reach. Not the right people.

It showed your post to whoever would engage.
Not to people who actually need what you do.

So what works instead?

Do two things at the same time.

One: Add 15-20 people from your ICP to your network every day. The people who actually need what you sell.

Two: Post what they need to hear. Not what gets likes from everyone else.

That's it.

Your reach doesn't matter if you're building an audience of scrollers instead of buyers.

500 impressions from the right people beats 10,000 from randoms every single time.

You want a buyer audience, not a scroller audience.

So stop obsessing over what the algorithm wants.

Start building a network of people who actually have the problem you solve.

Then talk directly to them.

The numbers will look smaller.
Your ego won't love it.

But your bank account will.

You can't fix a leaky bucket by pouring more water.

Yet that's exactly how most people run their marketing.

On paper, it makes total sense:

More marketing → More leads → More sales → More growth.

Simple math, right?

Except I've seen this backfire way too many times. Because more marketing ≠ more sales.

And most businesses don't even realize where they're bleeding out.

See, marketing does one job really well, it takes you from invisible to visible.

It's the gap between "who are you?" and "oh, I've heard of you."

But visibility doesn't equal sales. Never has. Never will.

Think about it: how many brands do you 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 but never buy from?

Exactly.

That's because there's a gap between your marketing and your actual sales. A big one.

And 90% of businesses are just... ignoring it.

Instead, they keep pumping more money into ads, more posts, more campaigns, hoping something will stick.

But they're skipping the most important part: the bridge.

The thing that turns "I've seen you around" into "I trust you enough to buy."

That bridge could be a newsletter where you actually talk to people.

Could be DMs where you have real conversations.

A community where people feel seen.

Anything that makes them think "oh, they 𝘨𝘦𝘵 me."

It's where you stop talking 𝘢𝘵 people and start talking 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 them.

And that's the difference.

Marketing and sales? Both powerful.

But if they're not connected, you're running two separate businesses.

Build that bridge though, and everything changes.

You don't need to spend more on marketing.

You just convert more with what you already have.

Less noise. More results.

Optimizing your LinkedIn profile is overrated.

Wait, wait... before you judge me, listen:

Having a well-optimized LinkedIn profile is a MUST.

But when you:

• Overthink your profile image every second
• Change your banner twice a week
• Tweak your headline every day

You actually missed the point of optimizing your profile.

Here's what you NEED to know:

When you change something on your LinkedIn profile, it takes days before it makes any impact.

Because Google (and other search engines) update after weeks.

That's how SEO works.

So while you're changing your banner for the 10th time, nothing's happening on the backend.

Got my point?

So YES, have a well-optimized profile.

But don't ONLY focus on it.

Because a fancy banner and killer About section won't magically bring you clients.

Here's what actually matters:

Your content: Share valuable insights that solve real problems.

Your DMs: Build actual relationships with potential clients.

These two are what grow a business on LinkedIn.

Not your banner color.
Not your featured section.

Even with a perfect profile, you'll get ignored without great content and real conversations.

Great writing makes people feel.

Here's the difference:

Good writing says: "Our service helps businesses grow their revenue."

Great writing says: "Remember the last time you lost a deal because your competitor moved faster? That stops today."

See the difference?

One informs. 
One makes you feel something.

Here's how to write content that makes people feel:

1/ Start with a moment, not a statement

Bad: "Time management is important for entrepreneurs."

Good: "It's 11 PM. You're still working. Your family's asleep. Again."

The second one puts them IN the feeling.

2/ Use specific details, not generic claims

Bad: "We help agencies scale."

Good: "We help agencies go from 3 clients and constant stress to 15 clients and actual weekends."

Specific = real. Generic = forgettable.

3/ Write like you talk to a friend

If you wouldn't say it out loud to someone sitting across from you, don't write it.

Cut the corporate jargon. Cut the "leverage synergies" and "optimize workflows."

Just talk like a human.

4/ Show the struggle before the solution

Don't jump straight to "here's how we fix it."

Make them feel the problem first. Let them nod and think "yes, that's exactly my situation."

Then offer the solution.

People buy from people who understand them, not from people who pitch them.

5/ End with something they'll remember

Not a generic "hope this helps."

Give them a line that sticks.

A question that makes them think.
A statement that challenges them.
Something they'll screenshot.

The bottom line:

Good writing shares information.
Great writing creates connection.

Information gets read once.

Connection gets saved, shared, and remembered.

The idea of "niching down" is completely misunderstood.

And it's costing YOU clients.

A few weeks ago, I got this message:

"Anas, do you think I have to niche down on my content...?"

So I asked: "What do you mean by niching down exactly?"

The answer? Same thing everyone says:

"Focusing only on SaaS founders located in the USA..."

Look, I get why people think this way. It sounds specific. It sounds strategic.

But it's wrong.

What most people call "niching down" is just demographics. Job titles. Locations. Industries.

That's not a niche. That's a mailing list filter.

And if that's all you're doing, you're not niching down, you're just randomly narrowing your pool.

Think about it like this:

A SaaS founder in San Francisco and a SaaS founder in Austin might have completely different problems.

One's struggling with churn. The other can't get their first 100 users.

Same job title. Same industry. Same country.

Totally different pain.

So why would you lump them together just because they both run a SaaS company?

You wouldn't.

But that's exactly what happens when you niche by demographics alone.

Here's what niching down actually means:

It's narrowing your focus on these 3 things:

→ One specific pain or struggle your client is dealing with
→ One specific desire your dream client wants
→ One specific signature solution you have

That's it.

You're hunting for clients based on the problem they face, the outcome they want, and whether your solution fits, not what's on their LinkedIn profile.

Which means you could work with a SaaS founder, an agency owner, and a coach, and they're all the perfect fit because they share the same pain and want the same result.

Different industries. Same niche.

Makes sense now?

This is why I love this definition:

Most people can't tell you which industry they should focus on. They just can't.

They don't have the data yet. They haven't worked with enough clients to spot patterns.

But ask them what pain they solve? They know.

Ask them what transformation they deliver? They know.

That's your niche.

The industry comes later.

Once you've worked with enough people dealing with the same problem, you'll start to notice patterns.

Maybe they're all in e-commerce. Maybe they're all consultants.

Maybe they're scattered across 5 industries but they all hit the same wall at the same stage.

That's when you can tighten it further.

But if you start with "I only work with SaaS founders in the USA" before you even know what problem you solve best?

You're guessing. And guessing is expensive.

Start with the pain. Not the demographics.

Because the person who needs you doesn't care if you usually work with people in their industry.

They care if you can solve their problem.
