During Andreas' time at the PV technology centre in Nicosia he gained experience from one of the leading European team’s associated with the testing and characterisation of photovoltaic modules. Clients included Sharp, Sanyo, BP Solar and Atersa. Duties involved:

•	Becoming familiar with client’s PV products and the protocols used to characterise modules to IEC standards such as IEC61215 (for crystalline PV), IEC61646 (for thin film PV) and IEC 62108 (for CPV systems)

•	 Working on the mechanical design and optimisation of a CPV tracker system for the European ORION project funded by a consortium of SME’s

•	Investigation into how to reduce the systems cost/watt and increase the system efficiency

•	An introduction to PV grid connectivity and power quality monitoring along with smart grid integration

Solar Energy Engineer

Atkins

Andreas completed his industrial placement year at Atkins within the tunnel ventilation team. During this year he was exposed to large scale engineering projects such as the London Piccadilly and Victoria line cooling analysis along with contact with the Crossrail scheme being implemented in and around London. Duties involved:

•	 Completing complex simulations of road and rail tunnels simulating pollutant dispersion, thermodynamic and fluid dynamic effects.

•	 Producing detailed and client specific ventilation system designs which were compiled with drawings and full technical specifications.

•	 Exercising project management and budgeting skills to ensure correct decisions were made to deliver projects to the clients successfully and within budget.

•	 Working alongside and gaining valuable experience from industry leading professionals on technical and managerial aspects of the projects.

•	 Liaising with other sub-contracted consultants and professionals keeping them informed of new project developments, providing them with the latest data and also making sure their submissions were prompt.

•	 Completion of the relevant IMechE training objectives working towards chartered engineer status.

Tunnel Engineer

Andreas is a motivated and experienced asset/project manager possessing extensive techno-commercial expertise on solar PV assets. From his 10+ years’ experience, he has worked on the full solar PV project lifecycle as well as other renewable technologies for assets across the UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and LatAm. 

Currently, Andreas is managing a solar PV portfolio of approximately £170m in asset value for Schroders Greencoat whilst also managing other strategic fund-wide initiatives. Andreas has successfully applied his knowledge in the fund M&A process through working on several successful multimillion-pound acquisitions, with the largest single deal valued at circa £190m.
