I was accountable for testing the Insights web based system used by clients and colleagues, following the SCRUM agile methodology, by performing Smoke Testing, Regression Testing, Cross Browser Testing, Exploratory Testing and Database Testing.
I was accountable for testing the SoloProtect Mobile App, both on Android and iOS phones, performing Mobile Testing, Smoke Testing, Regression Testing and Database Testing.
I participated in daily SCRUM calls, and SCRUM sprints, discussing the work the needed to be undertaken in a specific sprint and raising concerns I had encountered.  I also attended 3 Amigo meetings with developers and product owners, reviewing the requirements of user stories and asking questions to obtain further information.about them
I used MS SQL Server to perform database queries, alongside testing I had undertaken
I delivered webinars and training sessions, both online and face to face, showing colleagues the Insights web based system and the SoloProtect Mobile App.
I created an online user guide to show colleagues how to use Insights web based system.

Test Engineer

Junior Test Engineer

I was accountable for performing smoke testing, functional testing and regression testing for the COMMTRAC web based system, following the SCRUM methodology.

I created, documented and updated test scripts using Microsoft Team Foundation Server to perform manual testing.  I have also liaised with testers and developers about how specific areas of the software work, and raised bugs that I have found with the COMMTRAC software and explained the steps to replicate them.

I participated in daily SCRUM meetings, SCRUM sprint planning meetings, SCRUM sprint review and retrospects.  In these meetings I have discuss the progress of tasks I have been undertaking, raised issues and concerns I have faced and discussed the work that needed to be performed for specific tasks.

I used an automated testing tool called Sahi Pro, to automate different areas and processes for the COMMTRAC warehouse management web based system. This included identifying how to automate specific areas of COMMTRAC, running the automated tests to see if they were successful and updating and maintaining the automated tests so they can work at testing different client sites.

Software Tester

I was accountable for performing regression testing and functional testing for different builds of a plugin for the Petrel software, following the SCRUM agile methodology.

I have also used Microsoft Team Foundation Server to design and run regression and functionality tests. I also raised bugs that I have found with the plugin software and liaise with the development and testing teams to identify how to test specific areas that have been developed. I have also used Microsoft Team Foundation server to produce weekly bug reports for the software developed by the company.

I have developed testing plans to identify how specific areas of software should be tested, and reviewed the tests with other colleagues to ensure they were valid and relevant concerning the testing needed to be undertaken.

I also participated in daily SCRUM, sprint cycle and SCRUM retrospect meetings, where I was accountable for reporting my progress on the testing that I have undertaken, any issues that I was currently facing and what my plans are concerning testing. I worked with other colleagues to determine the time to be allocated to tasks within a specific sprint cycle.

I was also accountable for automating software tests for the Petrel software, using the Structural Fault Analysis software tool.  This involved identifying which areas of the software to automate, including creating tests for performing load and stress testing tests, learning how to automate the tests, testing the automated tests to see if they were successful and updating the tests where necessary.

I proactively worked with projects to ensure incidents and problems adhere to the Service Level Agreements set for them, producing metric reports and presenting the findings in meetings on a monthly basis and successfully investigating issues faced by different projects that are currently running.  I also designed and produced database reports, using Business Objects, to be sent to a client each reporting period and work with colleagues and projects to collect the required data.

Service Development Engineer - Organisational Metrics Analyst

I designed and developed application, functional design and logical system specifications for detailed business requirements and logical system specifications that were written by business analysts for the JobCentre account for the Department of Work and Pensions.  I also developed software using programming languages like C and tested the software that had been developed using tools like Toad, SQL to ensure the changes I made had met the client's specifications.

Services Information Developer - Level 2

I was accountable for designing and developing data mappings for transactions being sent from one system to another, and investigating how to migrate existing mappings to a new Service Oriented Architecture platform.  I was also accountable for monitoring a client's system and ensuring incidents were resolved in a timely manner, as well as configuring details for new units that were to be used on the client's system.

Services Development Engineer - Level 2

I began my career with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) on their Information Analyst Graduate Scheme, where I undertook different roles to learn and gain more experience of the Software Development LifeCycle.

I supported a client's software system, which was used to recruit candidates into the Armed Forces, by analysing problems that had come into a helpdesk, discussing with the clients where necessary about the problems they were experiencing with the system and resolving their problems to a high standard.

I gained experience of developing a client's software system, using PowerBuilder and SQL Server to develop and test the software.  I also tested a software suite that was to be migrated to a different system, noting the steps needed to be taken with the system and reporting any bugs and errors that I found with the system.

I gained experience of software testing, where I was accountable for testing a web based software system.  This involved writing and updating testing scripts to test different areas of the system for different types of testing that was being undertaken like Functional testing, and End to End testing.  I also performed Confidence testing and Regression testing to ensure changes that had been made to the software, did not affect any other area of the system.

I also mentored new graduates who had joined the company and helped to organise for graduates that were delivered by senior managers of EDS in the Defence Industry, as part of a Graduate Defence Initiative project.
