I had a job interview yesterday, and I wasn’t given the interview questions in advance, so guess what happened… 

I left the interview thinking about all of the stuff I should and could of said. 

We’re all human, this happens. 

I was able to prepare as best as I could, but there’s stuff I missed out on sharing with the hiring manager. 

If I had the questions in advance, I could of had a number of bullet points ready to share to strengthen my position of being the successful candidate. 

Now that the interview has finished, I’m going to follow up on an email to thank the interview panel for their time, and also to share further information I think they should be aware of about me and my experience.

With stepping into a co-parenting journey recently, alongside the cost of living, I applied for a job last Thursday. 

The company emailed me on Friday to confirm some stuff such as confirmation of salary range and the ways of working, to make sure things were suitable before arranging an interview date. 

I replied to let them know I was happy to proceed.

They then emailed me yesterday (Monday) with a proposed interview date. They even asked if I would like the interview to be in-person or by video call. 

I confirmed this morning that I’m happy to attend the interview. 

I know it’s only at interview stage, but so far, how this company is managing their hiring process is very positive. It’s been fast and done really well. It’s refreshing to see. 

Things really are as simple as we want to make them in life, and with work.

I’ve had several comments this week made to me about my grammar on my LinkedIn posts, it seems to be upsetting a few people… 🚨 

Here’s my process to writing a LinkedIn post: 

1. I open the LinkedIn app 

2. I click the post button (before I scroll my newsfeed) at the bottom of my LinkedIn app

3. I write about what I’m thinking about, and then I click the other post button to share it with the world


I write like I speak. 

I don’t tend to sweat over spellin mistakes or poor grammar. 

Sometimes I even write my LinkedIn posts by passion the mic button and just speaking.

My posts in the last 14 days have reached over 130,000 post impressions, so it seems you don’t need perfect grammar to get good reach on LinkedIn.

I kind of messed up yesterday… I had an in-person coffee chat scheduled with a LinkedIn connection, and I forgot to put it in my diary. 

I never turned up. 

When I got the DM asking where I was, I felt sh*t.

It’s first time I’ve ever stood someone up for a coffee meet! A total accident. 

Between moving home, adjusting to co-parenting and life in general, it’s been busy this side, I slipped up. 

We’re all human, right? 

Thankfully no fall out, and the coffee is on me next time!

A good way to positively grow your personal brand on LinkedIn?

Reply to all the comments that others leave under your posts.

I've just spent the last 30 minutes replying to comments that I've missed over the last 24-48 hours. 

My thoughts are, if someone is good enough to comment on my post then I will make time to reply.

This week I was approached by an in-house recruiter about a role at their company.
We exchanged a few DMs, I shared my CV, and they told me I was “very suitable.”

Great, I thought.

So I applied via their careers portal. Two clicks, done. Easy. No pre interview questions or anything like that. Just some personal details uploaded. 

Less than 24 hours later… 

The “sorry, you’ve been unsuccessful” email lands into my inbox. 

Lesson for me?

Never get too excited for a potential new role until the company hiring system decides you’re suitable for the role too 😂

Tonight is one of those “nights off” I get now that I’m co-parenting and it honestly isn’t easy. If you’re on the same boat as me with co-parenting, here’s a few things I’ve done last few weeks to keep productive… 

- changed my gym routine a little, so I’m out for a while on the nights I’m at home by myself 

- I’ve made plans with some close friends on those nights, cooking dinners here and going out for activities and food 

- I attended a virtual networking event last night with other local business owners, so a nice way of learning and socialising from home when the place is quiet 

- I’ve been out for lots of walks making sure I get my 10-15k steps each day 

- and, over the last few weeks I’ve really focused to get my LinkedIn back up and going to create new working opportunities 


I find it very hard to switch off, even when I’m busy, not being nearby to my kids is a real challenge mentally. 

How do you cope with your co-parenting “nights off”?

After a busy summer settling into co-parenting and a new home, I decided to really lean back into LinkedIn again. Over the last 7 days I’ve had… 

- over 70,000 post impressions 
- 100+ new followers 
- a lot of awesome DMs

And all this from just sharing what’s going on in my life, and sharing some of my thoughts. 

Post your post… you never know the positive support you’ll get, the people you’ll help, and all the new relationships you’ll create.
